The postmaster general's report has this on rural free delivery, which has been established in this ceuntry: Cj"Rural free delivery has been put to the test of practical experiment in 29 states and over 44 different routes. The cooperation of the communities sjrved has in eyery instance been ef fectively given. The general satisfac tory results suggest the feasibility of making rural delivery a permanent feature of postal administration in the United States; not Immediately or In all districts at once, but in some gradual and graduated form regulated by the present experiments. Public policy requires some advancement to be made, and that the postal service should be brought more into line with advancing prosperity and Increasing papulation. Sooner or later the United States will have to follow the lead of the more densely populated countries and establish a delivery ser vice over all the settled portions or its vast territory.
