Jennings Bryan was the carnival at traction in Kansas City tonight. In the amphitheatre, erected on Grand avenue, ho spoke to fully 40,000 people. Ho discussed political and financial matters, the address being on lines of many of Ills recent speeches through out the West. Fences had been built across the street in order to compel the crowd to pay admission to the scats which had been erected on the sides of the street. As far as the evidence Is concerned -the famous Luetgert trial is nearing its close. The crowd at the criminal court build ing yesterday was .larger than upon any pother morning during present week. Hundreds were turned away disappointed and angry. H'hen court opened the police olllcer, Charles Grlernow, was called to the witness stand to testify to certain dates of material events In the case, inj contradiction of witnesses for the defense. William Fulbeck, Luetgert's former hostler, testified that ho -missed Mrs. Luetgert May !, but said nothing until May 5. "Then I asked Mary Simmering where Mrs. Luetgert was," continued the witness. "What did she say?" State's Attorney Deenen. "She said Mrs. Luetgert stairs in bed," responded ness. Mrs. Feldt was in court to contra dict the eyidencc of Mrs. Mary Charles , relative to the rings worn by Mrs. Luetgert. Mrs. Charles e u phatically denied on the witness stand Tuesday that she had ever asked Mrs. Feldt to ay, if questioned that the rings found in the vat at Luetgert's s.iusagp factory were not the rincs which had belonged to Mrs. Luetgert.
