The report of thoKlumatn boundary commission has boon submitted to Secretary Francis and will bo transmitted to congress. The commission consists of AY. P. Coleman.of St Louis, chairman; B. P. Hammond, of California, and I. D. Applegatc, of Oregon. The Issue or the investigation, which was begun early in October, is an Indian claim for land ouUtidc or tho present res ervatlon In Oregon, on the north and cast boundaries, probably aggregating 1,250,000 acres, The commission re ports that tho survey niado by the United States government In 1871 was defective and not in accordance with tho lines described by tho treaty making tho reservation. The com mission found no difflculty in harm onizing tho testimony of the Indians and tho language of tho treaty for the wostorn boundary, where the sur voyor made his first errors. Hero the Indians lost "S,00 acres. The northern boundary line, claimed by the Indians, Is rejected, Tho error on the west line caused a loss of about 75,000 aeees more to tho Indinn nn ,- north line, which tho commission now restores in rectifying the north line, The main point of controv easy was a large amount left on tbo east side of the reservation.
