Applause. The Republicans denounced Cleve land's tariff policy and then declare for his financial policy the establish ment of the Urlllsh gold slrnndard. The Democrats kicked the gold standard and Wall street crow out or their convention and hoisted the Hag of Independent action, while tli- II'- publican convention endorsed (.'lew land's financial policy, knuckled down to Wall street, and hol.stcd the flag ot financial distress, begging old England to come to the rex'iie ofntir country. In conclusion Mr. Hofer said the gold standard advocate docs not ex pect the support of Democrats or Populists. Mr. Geer says he docs not hope to convert a single Democrat or Populist to his views. Ho docs not give silver Republicans credit for any Intelligence. Ho says ho simply wants to hold all tho old Republicans in lino and thus carry Oregon by 20,000 for the gold standard. He will not be able to carry Jackson county, or Marlon county, or the state or Oregon by un appeal to partisan spirit rather than patriotism.
