The correspondent starts out and abuses the president or tho Republican club and precinct committeeman, (Mr. Chapman being both) becauso he did not appoint or name tho brother of the opposing faction for Judge. Now the truth or tho matter is this: Mr. Chapman did deliver tho resolution as carried, naming tho Judges. At the samo tlmo there was a protest handed in, In writing: objecting to tho ac knowledged leader or tho othor fac tion naming his own brother as ono or tho Judges. Now, wo thought that a little too cheeky. (Wo thought wo smelt Fraud). Tho chairman or tho central commltteo decided that It was right for the different precinct com mltteo men to mimo the Judges, an d Mr. Chapman to harmonize tho two factions, named two or tho Judges pro posed by tho opposing faction, only leaving off tho name of Silas Jones, the brother or the man who named tho Judges in tho resolutions, and putting In his place Mr. Shaw. Now this cor respondent calls two or thoso Judges corrupt. It that was possible then would ho not bo responsible ? For he named two or thorn, But when you try to Impeach tho honesty, tho In tegrity and the truthfulness of such mon as E. K. Shaw and A. G. Perkins tho people of Marlon county will re sent It. I will ask tho correspond ent If their names wquld not stand as a shining light, beside the name of Silas Jones) tho promised Judgo) for honesty, truth and veracity. In regard to precinct linos tho correspondent says Mr. Ehlon gave to F. J. Bolter tho precinct lines as recorded In 189 1, Now t he fact of tho case Is there was no change In 1801. Ho also states that Mr. Ehlen gavo him tho truo lines of Brooks precinct. Now, Mr. Ehlen never claimed ho gave Boltor tho truo and lawful lines of Lablsh precinct. Mr. Ehlen did not certify that ho gave you a Riga (it the county or Mai Ion In the relocation of tho precincts. Tho book that Mr. Ehlen got your record out of states that tho changes you claim were nmdc at n January term of county court In 1892. But when you search tho county court records you II nd It Is a He, It Is false. ??o such record appearing therein, But the Hues wc claim are recorded In the proceedings of tho county court of Marlon county and In the county comt's nntiic. Has anybody cvcrcortl tied to the correctness of this book whel'o you get your lines? No, they dare not do It for they would certify to a lie. I don't claim the other precincts nrc not correct. Tho Job Is In Lablsh precinct. Furthermore the lines claimed by the opposition conflict- with Gervals precinct, ours conform to It. (You dare not dispute It.) Mr. Watson says there was never anything before the county court In January 1802 to change the lines be tween Lablsh and Gervals precincts, tho correspondent says he heard a man say that there were only four Democrats left In tho precinct, so much the batter; let the good work go on. Wc found tho Democrats and Populists you converted two years ago stuck to tho Republicans so well, we thought that wo would try our hand at It, and those we converted will make better Republicans than your correspondent, ror you will llnd them voting ror E. W. Chapman and tho balance of the ticket. You did not hear the Mission Bottom crowd when they were beat by those false precinct lines two years ago, go howling around the county trying to beat the ticket because wo were beat, no, there was more manhood about us, wo put our shoulder to tho wheel to help the good cause along. Your correspondent gives the delegates of the county con vention a slap as being corrupt (as he claims wc are) and ho says he thinks they aro of the same kind, for they rewarded E. W. Chapman with a nomination on tho ticket. Fouryears ago when he was on their side, ho was a good mau, so they said, we did not dispute. They placed him In nomina tion berorc the county convention he thinks ir he was an honest man then he Is now, which I know him lob?, you in dollars that havo appreciated to an unknown extent. He knows that tho present course or events Is forcing the borrower to practically pay about 20 percent a year for tho use of money, which no legitimate business can stand. So your neigh bor, having common horso sense, re frains from borrowing your dollars. II tho gold fanatics could only stop their fetich-worship long enough to let a few or theso racts percolate through their so-called Intellects, they would get a clearer view of the situa tion.
