From 1866 to 1873 inclusive there was a Republican surplus to apply to wiping out the national debt. Cleveland went in March-4, 1893, nnd for that year the surplus nearly disappeared. In 1894 and 1893 tho deficit duo to Democratic mismanagement of revenues and finances ran up to over 8112,000,000.
