As the last day for voting upon the United (States Reuntcrphlp is here, Hen ator Dolph'a only hope Is to whip in some of the opposition to v in for him at midnight, Friday. This nut, his henchmen explain, can be very eatslly committed by tbo opposition members, on the plea that it is ueuessury to elect a senator before adjournment. The hopes of thus getting enough votes to secure the corporation senator's elec tion, are based on the theory that four men will sell out for boodle at the last minute, and explain their acts by the feeble plea that they could not do oth erwise (Senator Dolph la a peor, deluded mortal. Tho charge that members of tho op position are simply holding out to the ast lu order to get pay for their votes, is worthy of tho pot-house measures re borted to by Mr. Dolph's strikers, and U evidence that those men would use money freely to secure the necessary votes. But it Is too late. Votes cau not bo bought for the corrupt purposes of tho machine. Men who havo held out forty days against suoh "Induce ments," will not sacrifice themselves whon victory Is In sight. Mr. Dolph's laBt hope of securing the necessary votOH on Friday night, Is a vain one, Ills light Is lost, and the victory Is with the opposition. SALARIES AND MILEAGE.
