Papers Filed in a Divorce Suit Two Days After Marriage. June 6th Georgia Comstock.of Salem, was married to Henry Grosse, of Polk county. June 7th H. J. Bigger, as attorney, filed In the circuit court a petition for her divorce. It alleges that for forty eight hours they had lived together as mn nnri wife. That in that time he bad procured I her arrest and imprisonment malicious ly, accusing her of false pretense and Grosse fraud, and obtaining a deed of 100 acres of land in Nebraska, that she bad been discharged from tbe criminal court, and that be bad subjected her to personal Indignity rendering life bur densome, etc. Wherefore plaintiff demands a decree dissolving the bonds of matrimony with leave to resume her name as Comstock, and costs, etc, and such, fur ther relief as may be equitable. Cholera. Surgeon General Wy man, of the Marino hospital service, telegraphed tbe United minister at Constantinople, asking for nfllrmatlon or denial of the report that Cholera ex ists in that country and today received the followlug reply: Tbo first case ap peared on May 20th at Bagdad and It began spreading among tbe Arab settle ments. Numerous cases are also re ported and twenty deaths per diem at Bassorah. It has lately appeared at Red sea ports. (Signed) Newbury, Charge d'affaires." Dr. Wymau does not anticipate any danger from the dis ease unless It should work Its way Into Alexandria or the Red sea. The various spraying ma chine men bave bad a bard time selling Dave Guthrie of Polk county a hop- louse exterminator. He refuses to be lieve bis yards are lousy and tbe other day he played qnlte a trick on them. Uncle Guthrie got a lot of black gnats and other little flics and the winged aphis and they declared those were tbe prolific female hop loute that could lay a million eggs a minute. But he only chuckled t-j himself and has not bought a sprayer yet, though be says he Is not throwing off on spraying at all. When the lice get a good ready and the weather is right they Will be on band. They won't bave to be notified by the weather clerk. If the combina tion is Just right they can ruin any hop yard iu a few days. The sprayer men are saying that the lice are coming on too slow to sell ma chines. Some say rainy,cool weather is good for lice; others say tbe sun is what breeds them. Uncle Dave says that it is in tbe shade that lice multiply. The sea breezes turn up the leaves of bis hop orchard once a day and the lice don't get a foothold. There is no doubt there is a good foundation for lice in the country and they will appear thick with half a chance. Better be ready for them. m divorce suits.
