of that city, and another evangelist
whom ho will solect. Tho carriago is to

Socioty of Christian Workers of tho
United States and Canada, This socioty
was incorporated about flvo years ago
under tho laws of tho stato of Connecti
cut with a capital or $0,000. Slnglo
shares aro valued at twenty-flvo dollars.
Air. Lewis D. Tibbals, of this city, who
is tho financial backer of tho socio
ty, tuld a roportor something about its
work.
"It is tho aim of tho society," said Mr
Tibbals, "to aid in ovangolistio work by
furnishing carriagos of this sort as woll
as railroad cars, wagons, tents and ev
erything needed by tho varying domands
upon the ovangollst Tako tho small
towns a littlo distance) from tho rail
roads and they are apt to bo destitnto of
religious iniluenco. ThoQospol carriago
will bring tho ovangelist to them. He
will bo provided with Bibles and Chris
tian literaturo, which ho will disposo of
among tho people Tho car will also
contain a small organ, to bo used in tho
services.
"Tho Gospel carriago is tho most com
pleto vehiclo for tho purposo that could
havo been devised. It is about tho elzo
of an omnibus, but a triflo wider. It will
carry four persons besidos tho driver,
and it is so built that it can bo closed up
tight in caso of a storm. It is divided
into two soctlons. In front is a mini
aturo kitchen provided with cooking
utensils, and in tho rear nro tho seats,
with arrangements for four borths,
which can bo let down at night. Tho
driver's bunk is built underneath tho
wagon.
"In tho rear of tho vehiclo is a folded
platform, which can bo let down whon
its uso is required. Hot and cold wator
is provided. Mr. Collins will start out
from Now Haven, nut 1 think ho has not
yot determined upon his routo. It will
ba tho aim to carry tho Gospel into
places othonvlso inaccossiblo. If tho
plan is found feasiblo other carriages
will bo placed upon tho road in duo sea
son." Tho presidont of tho socioty which
undertakes this work is tho Rov. Mr.
Ton-oy, principal of Dwight L. Moody's
Chicago school for tho education of
ovangolists. It holds Its annual conven
tion next Novombor in Tremont tomplo,

Mr. Tibbals is a man of middlo ago
who has long boon conuoctod with re
ligious work. Ho is tho proprietor of a
toy storo hero, but is a citizen of Flor
