Tho revolutionists have taken possession of Valparaiso with Balniaceda practically a fugitive without resources in men or monoy, with the principle seaports In the hands of the congrestlouallsts. With President-elect Vicuna a refu-sri-o mi board a German war ship, and tho country flocking in masses to tho standard of tho Invaders, It Is a matter of only a few days when the capital will fall Into tho hands of tho revolutionary leaders. Gen eral Cuuto and his army won to day's battle by superior generalship and hard fighting, assisted by good fortuno In killing ofl" Ualmaceda's generals and tho consequent demor alization of tho army and desertion of entire regiments. Furthermore, there has not been harmony in the military councils of President Bal maceda, as both Uarbora and Alzcr reca wanted tho supremo command. Other naval ofllcers followed suit, and soon thero were enough foreign sailors and marines on shore to protect the city agasnst Intruders. Tho streets of tho city by 11 o'clock, were filled with the disorganized Balmacedian soldiers. Tho execu tlon among tho ofllcers had been ter i Hie. In addition to General Bar bora and Alzerreca, nearly all the stafl ollleers had been killed or wounded, and tho fatalities among tho line ofllcers had also been great. To avoid bloodshed, which would probably have resulted from the vie torlous army entering, the city, heated with tho fire of battle, Veil, sent a flag to General Canto with u proposition to surrender the city. Thero was n sharp engagement, but Captain Feuntes finally hauled down his flag, and there was not un enemy to tho lovolution from Fort Valdlvid to Vina del Mar. He was Ah years old, apparently of con siderable means and CHllure, aud llyed quietly with a handsome girl 18 years old, whom he said was his daughter Alice. Burns had not been seen for several days, but tho neighbors paid no attention to the matter, as ho was reserved, and seemed to care only for his daughter. Yesterday Herman Grosty went to the house, but could not get hi. He ouud a famishing horse in the barn and then broke in tho rear door of the house. A horriblo stench nearly drove him back, butou going into a back room, ho discovered Burns' body on a beil with the girl's body lying across It. A tight cord around tho girl's neck showed that she had died of strangulation. Thero were no signs of a struggle, and everything lu the house was in order, Tho supposition is that Bums died a natural death or com mitted suicide by poison, aud that tho girl, on discovering his death, strangled herself.
