to marry."'
Hence tho deairo for secrecy. This Is
only ono of tho terrors which surround
tho niarringo of government employes,
but It Is a curious commentary on tho
growth of officialism in this country.

D R Weasou, of Springfield, Mass,,
has fjccured patent on an automatic
lubricating bullet or projectile In nil of
tho principal countries of tho world.
Previously it has !eon a question how
to keep rapidly flrcd guns clean, tho
lubricant having ben ptored In grooves
on tho exterior of each bullet, or In
8omo similarly clumsy way that has
proved but half effective. Mr. wes
son's devico Kinks In each bullet from
tho base to a point beyond tho bearing
of tho boro, a narrow cell, which is
filled with tho lubricant.
Tho plug at tiio bafe consists of a
metallic cap which is acted on by the
explosion, driving it forward into tho
cell. Two small ducts lead upward
and downward from tho end of the cell
nearest the point of tho bullet, through
which tho luhrlcaut is forced, as the
metallic cap advances. Tho lubricant
then lies between tho bullet and tho
barrel, and as tho projcctllo proceeds
the boho of tho ammunition bearing
tightly on tho barrel carries tho luhri
