This morning was cloudy with light showers of rain at intervals, but the sides cleared up about 10:30 o'clock, and the remainder of the trip through the picturesque valley of the Columbia was made in bright sunlight, which disclosed tho mount tins and Cascades through which tho road passes in all their beauty md grandeur. One of tho pleasant est incidents of tho run from Port land was a visit to Multnomah Falls. The entire party, including the president and ladles, left the train for closer inspection and spent sev eral minutes viewing tho scene and gathering flowers and wild ferns as mementoes.
