In working a specimen of sulphide or blende ore sent from a mine in Shasta county u small piece of na tive metallic zinc was secured. Zinc Is found in various forms lu the United States, although never in such miantities as to make it of com mercial value; but this is tho first piece of the character named ever known to have been secured lu this country.
