man's father died, leaving an estate
which Mrs. Smith claimed for her
daughter. Tho Washington county
court, under tho seven years' absence
death law, declured tho daughter to
be thu legal heir. Smith, on his re
turn did not seek a reconciliation
with his wife or recognize Ida child,
but after engaging a lawyer to prose
cute his claim to his father's estate,
left us suddenly as ho came.
