H i V A NTH I 1 I .11 h " ""'Jt' -a, vw-s; A CLACKAMAS COUNTY CITIZES'S ATTEMPT AT SUICIDE. - H Forced a Yonn$r Woman to Wit ness the Aet, Which Wa Done After Dark Considerable excitement prevailed in the vicinity of; Aurora yesterday. It was caused by the attempted suicide of a young man named Solomon liach-! trt. a son f Michael BaV.bert, who re-1 sid's In Clackamas ccunty, about three-quarter of a mile from Aurora. It appears that a Miss Hilton, aged IS, waa going along the read on horse back about dark Monday evening when young Eachert stepped out f rorn thi brush at the roadside and, graboing her horse by the bildle, ordered her t- dismount and accompany him to a fleli nearby. She protested and he then fc reed her from the saddle and led her to a spot about a mile away. He told her that he was going to kill himself and wanted her to witness the act. He first handed her his watch and com pass, remarking that she could use the latter to find her way to the road affr he had succeeded In ending his life. Then he tried to hang himself, but failed when he pulled a pistol from one of his pockets and shot himself, falling backwards. Miss Hilton, more reared than alive, fled frem the scene as quickly as she could, but old cut nd the road until daylight yesterday morning. Coming to Aurora she related what had hap pened and several persons started" out to find I-ichei t's b dv.
