They will start their performance at 8 p.m. in the new gymnasium. Heard se veral people asking why it wasn't being shown in the auditorium. The cast asked to perform in the gym, as they are used to performing in bigger and more open areas, and better yet, more people can be seated in the gym. Regardless of where It is shown, make an effort to see the performance, as it is fantastic, enthusiastic and entertaining for the whole family and all of that is kind of hard to find, all in one package. Tickets will be on sale at the Nyssa banks until 2 p m. Thursday. Remember too. the proceeds go to the American Cancer Society. • • • For those who have had doubts about parking in front of the Bike Route' signs on Main Street, you may do so as there are no parking restrictions in regards to the signs. • • • For the moviegoers in town, not having a theatre can be pretty disheartening at times. However. Glenn Walker will be showing the movie. "The Heroes of Telemark" Friday. October 21 at 7:30 in the new auditorium. This thrilling war story stars Kirk Douglas. Richard Harris. The three-credit class is the first in a sequence of three which will be offered in Nyssa this year. The class is a transfer course and may be used as credit toward a four-year degree. School Board Wants Roof Repairs on Gym Meeting in regular session the Nyssa School board told Bob Smith it wanted some work done repairing the roofs on the gymnasium and auditorium. Board members said citizens were complain ing about repairs not yet done, and with the rains coming any time, work should begin immediately. After a presentation by band director Ralph Werner, the board approved a band trip to the Calgary Stampede. Werner said the band would be participating in a band contest and would probably be performing at concerts. The money for the trip, to take place the summer of 1978, will be raised by the students. Werner outlined for the board some of the planned fund-raising activi ties. The board considered, but took no action on a request by Carol Wenning to hold a non-denominational Bible club in one of the class rooms. The board tabled the request until more informa tion could be obtained. Industrial arts instructor George Fanning made a proposal on building a bus garage using building trades students for labor. He gave an estimate of the cost and told the board a block building would be the best. Steele Named to Second Term Chauncey Steele, a grower from Ontario. Oregon has been named to a second term as chairman of the Oregon Potato Commission. Steele was elected chair man and Dwight Macy, vice chairman, by fellow commis sioners at the group's Sep tember meeting. Macy is a resident of Culver, Oregon. The Oregon Potato Commis sion is appointed by the governor and is responsible for coordinating promotional, trade and educational activi ties for the Oregon potato industry. The apartments are located at 510 South 5th Street. There will be tours of one and two bedroom units and of special interest will be the one bedroom unit which is equipped for the handicapped. Nvssa Mayor George Coffman will open the day's events with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The "Son Shiners" a local family gospel group will provide special music.
