Poge Four Nyssa Gate City Journal, Nyssa, Oregon Engagement Announced Social Scene Boyd Wilson Recuperating Boyd Wilson who under went major heart surgery at St. Luke's Hospital in Boise on Wednesday. August 11, is now out of intensive care and on his way to recovery. His wife Luciile reports he is doing just fine and may have a few visitors. Boyd is in room 371 at St. Lukes. Paul Penrod In Boise Hospital Paul Penrod, well-known Nyssa resident, is recovering from surgery in the Veteran's Hospital in Boise. According to his wife. Laura, he is doing very well and hopes to be home later this week. He may have visitors. Gerald Sint un tel Out Of Hospital MR. AND MBS. KENNETH PRICE announce the engagement of their daughter, Sherri Lynne to Larry F. Thiel, son of Mr. and Mrs. Francis Thiel of Nyssa. They are both 1976 graduates of Adrian High School. Sherri is now working as a dental assistant in Caldwell and Larry is farming in rural Nyssa. A September 3rd wedding is being planned. Sam Smiley of La Puente. California was a recent ten-day visitor at the home of his parents. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Smiley of Nyssa and his brother. James Smiley in Donnelly. • • • Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Cooper of Paradise, Calif, were recent visitors for a week in the home of their long-time friends. Mr. and Mrs. Dave Beers. The Coopers journeyed to Nyssa following a fishing trip in Nevada. They brought the Beers some very nice trout. Also arriving at the Beers home in time to visit with Mr. and Mrs. Cooper were Mr. and Mrs. Merril Firestone of Vancouver. Washington. Mrs Firestone is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Beers. • • • Mr. and Mrs. Merle John son recently attended the wedding of her grandson. Douglas Sweeney of Caldwell and Zelda Warner of Notus. They were married August 7 Gerald Simantel. who un derwent major surgery Au gust 5 in St. Luke's Hospital in Boise returned home last Friday. He is doing fine and may have visitors. SENIOR CITIZEN ACTIVITIES__ and are making their home in Caldwell. Mrs. Johnson's daughter and son-in-law. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Graham of Quincy. Wash, also attended the wedding and were houseguests of her mother. They all spent the weekend at the home of another daughter and son-in-law. Mr. and Mrs. Pat Sweeney in Caldwell. • • • Mr. and Mrs. Fred Mit chell from Pilot Rock were weekend guests at the home of her parents. Mr. and Mrs. Lester Oden. • • e Mr. and Mrs. Don Savage, Kris and Julie Hoff returned Tuesday following a ten day trip to Fort Gordon. Georgia where they attended the graduation exercises of their son. Pvt. Randy Savage from basic combat training. Sherri Price * 4 »« A RECEPTION HONORING Mr and Mrs. Stanley HUI on their 40th wedding anniversary will be held Sunday, August 22. at the Presbyterian Church in Adrian from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. All relatives and friends are invited to attend the open house event, which is being hosted by their children. Stanley and Louise Hill were married in Pueblo, Colorado in 1936. They moved to the Adrian area in 1936. Their farm has now been in the family for four generations. Their children are Mr. and Mrs.Carl L. Hili of Adrian. Mr. and Mrs. Ed (Nancy) Hanson of Ontario and Mr. and Mrs. David Hill of Adrian. The honorees have eight grandchildren. A dance will be held in the park that evening. Uh Mr. and Mrs. lute Mosqueda Pamela Sue Davis became the bride of Luis Mosqueda in an evening ceremony. July 14, 1976 at the United Methodist Church in Nyssa. The double ring ceremony was performed by the Rev. Letitia Croom of St. Paul's Episcopal Church. The newlyweds are the children of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Mosqueda of Nyssa and Mr. and Mrs. John R Davis of Yellow Pine. The church was decorated with candelabras with blue satin bows holding blue taper candles, flanked with baskets of blue, yellow, pink and white mums The altar was decorated with a memory candle and two blue taper candles. The bride, given in mar riage by her father wore a floor-length V-necked gown with headpiece of silk or ganza trimmed in Venice lace. Her train flowed grace fully from the shoulder into a wateau train of chapel length. The empire waist line was also trimmed in the Venice lace. An Alexandrian sleeve fell softly into a bell cuff. She carried a bouquet of red roses, white daisies, mums and baby's breath. HELLO WORLD! Mr. and Mrs. Gary Smith, nee Patry Urry of Springfield, Oregon are doubley proud to announce that they are the parents of twin sons, Joel Steven and Kevin Michael. The new arrivals were born prematurely, Saturday, July 17, 1976 at the Springfield Hospital. One weighed three pounds and thirteen ounces and the other weighed four pounds and two ounces. They join a sister, Marcie Lyn who is two years old, at home. Beaming grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Max Urry of Nyssa and Mrs. Edith Smith of Roseburg. Oregon. There were 27 members and one visitor present. The minutes and the treasurer's report were read and accepted. It was reported that Mrs. Lucy Pounds snd Dr. John Long were both iU. The club was sdvised of a letter from the Idaho Power Company stating that films and programs were available through their company. Lillian Meckem reported that the concession booth at Thunderegg Days was most successful. The ladies will begin a new quilting project September I. The rummage sale is still being held each weekend. The members present vo ted to repair the broken electric roaster and also put some more money into the existing savings account. The nurses were at the meeting to record blood pressures snd weight. Chaplain Wyatt Smith ad journed the meeting with prayer and the pot luck dinner followed. Davis - Mosqueda United Shower To Honor _____ Griffins Enjoy Alaskan Trip Mr. and Mrs. George Griffin cf Apple Valley enjoyed a trip to Alaska, leaving on July 17. After sightseeing in Fairbanks, thev returned to Anchorage .and visited four days with the Rev. and Mrs. George Geesey and famly. While in Anchorage, Mrs. Geesey took them on an overnight trip to Seward. Mr. and Mrs. Glade Chadwick and family served a reception in the church parlor following the cere mony. Jackie Chadwick was in charge of the guest book, and Mary Ann Chadwick, the gift table. Serving the beautiful four tiered cake, a gift from the groom's parents, were Mrs Virginia Armfield of Caldwell cousin of the bride, assisted by the bride's aunt. Mrs. Hazel Fitch of Bend, Oregon. The three grandmothers of the bride were honored with white daisy corsages. They were Mrs. Gladys Davis, Boise, Mrs Geneva Baker and great-grandmother Mary Fitch, 98 years young of Parma. She had been gone for six weeks. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Ervin were Friday afternoon callers of Mr. and Mrs. Willis Conant. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Lewis and family of Nu Acres were last Sunday visitors of her parents. Mr. and Mrs. Willis Conant. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Rhodes and family and Mr. and Mrs. George Amstutz of Adrian went to the C.J. Strike Dam Sunday and had a picnic. Coming home they ran into a cloud burst at Mountain Home. It just poured. Mrs. Herschel Thompson and Mrs. Ethel Thompson visited Mrs. Anna Long in Adrian Thursday evening. Mi and Mrs. Merle Kygar were Tuesday evening callers of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Kygar. Marleen Jenkins and two children and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Kygar attended a birthday party for Brenda McConathy Saturday evening. Mrs. Della Horn and her daughter and husband.
