Mr. and Mrs. Bill Looney and other relatives. Mrs. Anna Long was a Sunday dinner guest in the Bill Looney home. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Parker •nd children of La Grande came and spent the weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Vern Parker, and attended Bob’s 20th Class reunion of Adrian High School. They attended the banquet at the La Paloma in Ontario Saturday evening and the class picnic at the Adrian Park on Sunday. They returned home Sunday after noon. Tracy remained for a weeks visit with the grand parents. Chances are the favorite summer desserts will be cool, light tenured and taste refreshing. The obvious ingredients for this kind of dessert are smooth, creamy dairy foods and juicy fresh fruits. They make appealing not too sweet combinations that come in soft pastel colors and all sorts of attractive shapes and forms. A nectarine cheese souffle standing high and handsomely garnished is an eye catching esample. It features not one or two dairy foods but three-cottage cheese, dairy sour cream and whipping cream. No wonder it tastes sooo good! This do ahead party dessert gets its lift from gelatin. Feel free to make it on the warmest day since you don't even have to heat the oven. Despite its elegant appearance, a souffle is a bree/e to put together. With a handy electric blender, nectarines are pureed in seconds and a cup of small curd cottage cheese is whirred to smoothness. Combine this blend with sugar, sour cream and a little almond estract. To give extra lightness, fold in whipped cream after the basic misture has chilled and partially thickened. Mold the dessert in a one-quart souffle dish with a 2-inch foil collar to get the high, dramatic appearance. Rosettes of whipped cream and nectarine slices on top make a pretty garnish. These of course, are added as Final touches. To really NECTARINE CHEESE SOUFFLE 1 *4 pounds nectarines I cup small curd cottage cheese 1 envelope plain gelatin */« cup cold water cup sugar I cup dairy sour cream */• teaspoon almond extract '/« teaspoon salt 1 cup whipping cream Cut nectarines into wedges. Whir in electric blender. Remove. Whir cottage cheese in blender. Soften gelatin in water. Stir over low heat until dissolved. Combine with nectarine puree, cheese, sugar, sour cream, almond extract and salt. Chill until it begins to thicken. Fold in whipped cream. Turn into 1-quart souffle dish with 2-inch oiled foil collar. Chill until set. Gently remove collar. Garnish with additional whippped cream and nectarine slices. Makes 6 to 8 servings. They went to Martin Lake in the mountains of Idaho. Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Schafer went to Weiser Sunday to a family reunion wjth her folks, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Breshears, celebra ting her birthday. K 1. Peterson returned home Thursday from a six weeks trip. He visited relatives in Sanford and Lincoln, Nebraska. Then went to Mentor, Ohio where he visited his daughter Arlene and husband Robert Neer. They moved there from Salem. From there, he went to Rockford, Illinois where he visited relatives. He then returned to Stanford and Lincoln. Nebraska and visited his relatives again, then returned home. Mr. and Mrs. Boyce Van DeWater and her brother Gordon DeGroff of California and George DeGroff of Port land were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Begeman. Mr. and Mrs. Cart Bege man accompanied by Mrs. Dale Witt attended the funeral services for Mrs. Mary Fogleman in Nampa Saturday. She was Mrs. Begeman's aunt. It was held at the Alsip Funeral Chapel in Nampa with burial in Hillcrest Memorial Garden. She was the wife of Carl Fogleman. They and their family are former residents of Kingman Kolony and Newell Heights. Their daughter Es ther Bowen of Nampa taught in the Adrian school. ROCKHOUND SPECIALS BIG BEND - Mrs. Mike Sillonis and family spent Monday and Tuesday in Nyssa visiting her sister, Mrs. Robert Mai of Burley at the home of Mrs. Rose Burns. Joe and Mark Witty and guest Kieto Yamamoto went with the Adrian FFA boys on a trail ride in the wilderness area near Medical Springs last week. On their return Monday they were met by Charles and Marshall Witty and Ed Undorf and they took the horses for an outing in the same area. Mr. and Mrs. Dallas Chaney and family camped out last weekend near Crouch. Idaho with friends from Homedale. Mrs. Darrell English and Mrs. Stan Thomas and children visited Mrs. Don Boren in Nampa Tuesday afternoon. Mrs. Dyre Roberts accompanied them as far as the Caldwell Memorial Hos pital where she visited her sister, Mrs. Burton Blades. Mr. and Mrs. Varner Hopkins entertained Satur day evening for Mr. and Mrs. Ken Hopkins of Eugene. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Ken Hopkins and family and the Lowes of Wilder. The Hopkins came for their children who had been vacationing on the ranch. Mr. and Mrs. Mike Sillonis and family accompanied Mrs. Rose Bums of Nyssa to the Oregon Coast ares last week, where they visited Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Brolin and Merle Smith in Grants Pass. Some of the places they visited was Brookings and Gold Beach, Crater Lake and Sunday they attended church at Provolt, Oregon where Mrs. Burns had grown up. There she saw many of her friends. They returned home Sunday eve ning. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Witty attended the Grange Tri-County picnic at Witmore Camp last Sunday. Ted Avery left Tuesday with three men from the Ontario-Weiser area for Brooking, Canada to attend a seed meeting. They flew there but then the weather was bad when they were ready to leave. After being stranded there until Friday, they flew to Helena, Montana Saturday they started on home, got as far as Missoula. Montana and had to return to Helena. Monday they were still in Helena but were planning to try to get home by car. Kieto Yamamoto of Tokyo, Japan is staying with Mr. and Mrs. Joe Witty and family for four weeks. He is part of the Exchange group here in Malheur County. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Bishop and daughter, Amy of Cari bou, Maine visited his sisters. Mr. and Mrs. Dallas Chaney and Mr. and Mrs. Glen Molt and family.
