Rockhounds are gathering from all parts of the United States and Canada for Nyssa Thunderegg Days. We extend greetings to our visitors on behalf of Nyssa and Treasure Valley residents. We know that you will find the kind of hospitality and friendliness typical of this area, one of the reasons why so many of you have returned for one or more times. So many of you now seem more like neighbors than visitors, and it is nice to see you again. Nyssa merchants are staffed and ready to take care of your every need while here, and you will find them cordial and their prices reasonable. All of our service people are ready to serve you if needed. To our local residents, we remind you that Rockhounds are a hardy and interesting group of people, and we suggest that you get acquainted with them. Thev have traveled over the country in search of rocks and gems, and the fact that thev come here, many as repeat visitors, speaks well for this area. The Nyssa Lions Club will again host the barbecue Thursday evening. This has become zn event that people look forward to. and the combination of barbecued beef cooked in a pit. fresh golden corn, and good fellowship under the big trees is hard to beat. Friday evening the annual ice cream social put on by the Methodist Church is another enjoyable event. Ice cream, cake and companionship is just as popular today as it was in the early days of this community. The Police Reserve is taking on the task of providing the watermelon feed on Saturday evening. These all precede the rock show, which is really the big event of the week, and always attracts thousands of visitors from al) parts of the valley. The exhibits this year will be in the halls of the elementary school. Excellent exhibits, some of the best seen anywhere, are open to the public at no charge. Next year this show will have new quarters in the multi-purpose room now under construction. We hope that you Rockhounds have an enjoyable stay in Nyssa, that you find lots of rocks, and that you will want to return again next year. Eliza Gertrud« Fife Services for Eliza Gertrude Fife, 63.
