New Plymouth are being honored on their 40th wedding anniversary, with a reception at the Nyssa South Park. MR. AND MRS. C. K. OLSON CELEBRATED their 50th wedding anniversary at their home on King Avenue, Monday. July 19. They enjoyed the special day with a beautifully decorated cake and the company of two of their children. Weston Olson and Janet Mangini and their grandchildren. Their other son. Lawrence and his family will arrive in Nyssa later this week. Mr. and Mrs. Olson were married in Idaho Falls and lived thirteen years in Emery. Utah, where Mr. Olson farmed, coal mined, raised bees and did carpentry work. They came to Nyssa in 1939, and he was a building contractor. The couple have three children. Lawrence and his wife and three children live in Logan, Utah. He is a data processor for the Hesston Corporation. Their other son. and daughter- in-law. Mr. and Mrs. Weston Olson have two children and make their home in Cicero. Illinois. He owns his own machine and carpentry shop and is an electrical engineer in Chicago. The couple's only daughter and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Bob (Janet) Mangini live in Las Vegas. Nevada. She has been a medical secretary for several years but is now happy being a full-time homemaker. Her husband. Bob, is assistant terminal manager for Milne Truck Lines. Damon Luke Henrie was born Friday. July 2. 1976 at St. Luke's Hospital in Boise. Idaho. The new arrival weighed seven pou nds and was twenty-one inches kmg. Damon is the couple's second child. California were recent visi tors in the home of his parents. Mr. and Mrs. Jesus Lopez. They went camping over the 4th of July st Cascade. Their daughter Jill, ac companied them to Portland, enroute they had lunch at Hood River with the James Mallon family. Terry Mallon, their son, joined the Jacksons for a champaign brunch at the Benson Hotel Jill then returned home. The three Jacksons then went to Sumner, Washington to the home of their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Mike Becker and family. They enjoyed sailing an Lake Tapps and going to North west Trek, a game refuge, and then going to Mount Rainier. In Ashland they visited Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Jackson and helped Bruce celebrate his 25th birthday. They attended a Shakespearian play In Newark. California they were guests of Mr. and Mrs. brother, Mr and Mrs. Hector Lopez and family of Nysaa. They also visited at the homes of their brothers. They attended a family barbecue on July 9 given In their honor by his brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Noe Lopez at the home of Mrs. Margarita Chavez. The Eden Lopez family returned to their home in California that same evening. Their children enjoyed the swimming pool and the park very much. The whole family loves to come to Nyssa. Schutte-Grant United In Afternoon Ceremony Miss Barbara Marie Schutte became the bride of Paul Raymond Grant In a double-ring ceremony per formed in the early afternoon Saturday. June 19. 1976, in the Lutheran Brethren Church in Nampa. Parents of the newlyweds are Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Schutte of Nyssa and Mr. and Mrs. Donald Grant of Meri dian, former Nyssa residents. The ceremony was solem nized by the Rev. Arlow Hushagen of the Lutheran Brethren Church. The bride was attired in her mother's wedding gown. Her parents were married 38 yean ago on thia same date Her fingertip length veil fell from a daisy headpiece and she carried a bouquet of white roses, daisies and carnations. Matron of honor was Joan Nelson and Linda Ludwig waa bridesmaid. Both wore blue print voile floor length gowns and carried matching bouquets of white daisies. The groom wore his father's wedding suit. How ard Smith served as best man and ushers were John Grant and Robert Grant. A three-tiered wedding cake decorated with arrange ments of daisies and baby breath was served at a reception held in the church fellowship hall. Assisting with serving were, Mrs. Larry Peeler. Mrs. David Hedman. Mrs. Bill Martin, all sisters of the bride; Mrs. Howard Schutte, a sister-in-law; Miss Ann Grant, sister of the groom; Miss Diana Trummell. and Miss Karen Haakensen Miss Beverly McGillivary was in charge of the guest book Take Dakota Trip Mrs. Dorothy WUson and daughter Patsy spent a week recently visiting friends near Lemmon, South Dakota. While there they had the opportunity to go to the Theodore Roosevelt National Memorial Park at Medora and to the North Dakota Badlands. They attended the 1976 Medora Musical held in an outdoor amphitheater. Mr. and Mrs. Wyatt Smith returned with the Wilsons after spending a week there visiting the Bob Grtssley family also near Lemmon Former C.C.C. To Hold Reunion Former members of the CCC who were stationed at Nyssa in the 1930's are invited to attend a reunion of the CCC's in Portland on August 14, beginning at 2 p.m. The event will be at the Eagles Hall, 8835 S.W. 30th " Avenue. Scon Dagenhart and they enjoyed touring San Fran- ciaco and eating at a Moroccoan restaurant They returned to Nyssa Friday, just in time to receive their daughter, Mrs. Mike Becker who was there to attend her ten-year class reunion with former Nyssa High School graduates. The new Mrs. Grant is a graduate of the Lutheran Deaconess School of Nursing in' Minneapolis, Minn. The bridegroom attended Simp son Bible college in Modesto, California, and Boise Stele University. The newlyweds will make their home at Route 2 Nampa. She la a nurse at Nampa Mercy Medical Center and he la employed at Grant's Furni ture Shop in Meridian. Nyssans Attend Eugene Wedding Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Coffman. Dorothy and Patsy Wilson were houseguests of the Melvin Marcums in Eugene a week ago and they attended the wedding of Crystal Marcum and Ken Milla on July 10. Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Marcum, Bill and Sara flew their plane to Eugene the day of the wedding Mrs. Mar cum and Mrs Wilson served the cake. Patsy Wilson and Carol Greig (formerly of Nyssa) served the coffee and punch Sara Marcum was in charge of the guest book. The Coffmani remained in Eugene where Mrs. Coffman is hospitalized Mr. Coffman is staying with their daughter and son-in-law, the Melvin Marcums. SENIOR CITIZEN ACTIVITIES Orma Cleaver, president of the Nyssa Senior Citizen group, opened the meeting at the United Methodist Church. July 14, with a flag salute to the American Hag. Thirty-three members and two visitors were present. The minutes and trea surer's report were read and accepted. The nurses were there to take blood pressure. It was decided to have a concession booth at the Thunderegg Days and sell hot dogs, homemade pie, cookies and donuts and serve pop and popcicles. Nancy Dunham from the Referrral Office reported that the Senior Citizen housing project will be underway soon. Merle Johnson was named alternate member to the Council of Aging for thia district. President Cleaver thanked the ladies for making the beautiful Bicentennial cake that was served during the special program in observance of our Bicenten nial year. It was decided by vote that the group will help deliver ’’Meals on Wheela" in October. There will be a film shown at the nezt meeting. The meeting was adjour ned with prayer by Wyatt Smith, chaplain.
