June 19, 1976 was the setting for the afternoon wedding of Nancy Arnold and David Wilaon. The couple ei- changed vow* before a gathering of 85 guests. with the Rev. Bliven conducting the service A special bles sing on the matching gold wedding bands, with settings of Persian Jade, designed and handcrafted by the groom for hia bride, was given. The bride was escorted down the aisle by both her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Arnold of Palo Alto. California David is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wilson Nyssa. Providing music during the ceremony was Rick Chester and Ron Schoen playing their guitars. Nancy Ross played a flute solo "Brian's Song." The bride wore a full length gown of candlelight muslin, featuring an empire waist line and midriff lace inserts with ribbons inter twined. She wore a headpiece of spring flowers and carried a matching nosegay bouquet A special part of the groom's attire was a muslin shirt on which Patty Beard, sister of the bride, sewed hand embroidery, the colors blending with his blue leisure suit. Mrs Lionel Beard. Eugene waa her sister's matron-of honor, and bridesmaids were Barbara Galer, Corvallis and Diane Sheldon of Portland They wore full-lengih floral muslin gowns and ca.ried nosegay bouquets similar to the brides. Attending the groom as best man was Bryon Feik of Corvallis, and Tom Wilaon, brother of the groom. Mike Smith and Mark Stringer served as ushers. A reception followed at St. Mary's Parish with Marilee Wilson, sister of the groom, in charge of the guest book. Assisting at the reception table were Mrs. Tom Holman aunt of the groom, Mrs. Dick (Judy) Martin and Mrs. Ray (Linda) Erland, the groom's sisters and Mrs. Cliff Kirk hart. Mrs. Ray Arnold, sister and sister-in law of the bride. After a honeymoon al Timberline Lodge, on Mt. Hood, the couple will be making their home in Philo math. Oregon and both will be returning to Oregon State University in the fall where Nancy will be a sophomore and Dave a senior in Education, doing his practice teaching at Crescent Valley High School in Corvallis. Wendy Soliz Mr. and Mrs. William Ash craft and boys of Adrian, left on a trip to the West Coast June 18 and returned the evening of the 23. Their first night was spent in Bend. They stopped in Winston to visit the World Wildlife Safari. From there they stopped to see Shasta Lake. Heading for San Francisco, they stopped in St. Helena. California to visit the Hanns Koonll Champagne Cellars and the Christian Brothers Wine and Champagne Cel lars. After which they pro ceeded on to San Pablo, where they had dinner with Donna's aunt and uncle. Mr. and Mrs. John Stout. They spent the night with a cousin. Eomalle Rucker before going to San Francisco on Monday morning. In San Franciso. they visited several points of interest, beginning with Fi sherman's Warf, where they saw San Francisco's Past. The Was Museum, Rippley's Believe it or Not. the Ship Balclutha floating museum and took a helicopter ride around Alcatraz Island. From there they went through Golden Gate Part, and then went to the San Francisco Zoo and then back to their cousins place for the night. On Tuesday, they went to Manne World, Africa U.S.A, after spending the day there, they headed home, stopping in Reno. Nevada for the night. There they visited several casinos before returning home on Wednes day. Job's Daughters Happenings Job's Daughters. Bethel No. 33 held their meeting June 23 at the Masonic Hall with Shawn Webb, honored queen presiding. Reports were given from Grand Session. Jackie Chad wick is Grand Representative to Alberta. Canada; Marlene Jamieson. Past Honored Queen of Bethel No. 33 received the Degree of Royal Purple at Grand Session. The girls will hold a yard sale July 10 at 207 South 3rd Street from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. All members are to bring their salable articles to this address Thursday evening or call 372-2731. An addendum by the Associate Matron, Conduc tress and Star Points was presented for the new Wor thy Matron and she was presented a basket of flowers and a scrap book from the chapter. Refreshments were served from a table decorated in pale green and peach. Presiding at the coffee and punch were Charlotte Domenico and Shir ley Hall. The reception of the new Worthy Grand Matron Genevieve Powell will be held September 4 at Moro. Oregon. OES Grand (Juipter Meets The Grand Chapter of Oregon, Order of Eastern Star opened at the Coliseum in Portland recently with 1750 registered members. Reports of committees on Estarl (religious training awards) was forty-two awards of $500 each, to anyone who needed them. Leslie S. Parker scholarship awards went to thirteen girls and amounted to $500 each. They were not required to be a Star or have Star affiliation. Endowment Fund Awards were given. Five awards of $300 each were awarded to five girls with Star affiliation. The Homer F. Parrish awards for education were given to twenty persons. $250 each. Donations from throughout the state for the cancer research was $28.000 and was presented to Dr. William Fletcher, director of cancer research at the University of Oregon Medical School. This was through the wort of each Star chapter and member over the entire state of Oregon. News About SERVICEMEN Miners Return From South Dakota Trip Mr. and Mrs. Harry Miner returned home Thursday evening from a four-week, fun-filled vacation in South Dakota. SA Harold Nevill Navy Seaman Apprentice Harold A. Nevill, son of Mr and Mrs. Howard R. Nevill of Parma, has completed recruit training at the Naval Training Center. San Diego. California During the eight-week trai ning cycle, he studied ge neral military subjects de signed to prepare him for further academic and on-the- job training in one of the Navy's 85 basic occupational fields. Among the subjects he studied were seamanship, close-order dnll. naval his tory and first aid. A 1974 graduate of Fruit land High School, he joined the Navy in February 1976. Mr. and Mrs. Dumas They spent ten days in Huron. South Dakota where they were honored with an anniversary dinner to cele brate their 52 years together. This was held at the home of Mrs. Miner's sister. Among the special guests were three of their high school friends. On Sunday. June 6, another sister was hostess for a family party. On June 12, they went to Highmore which was where they formerly lived. They attended three 50th Anniver sary parties of friends and also a Bicentennial Style Show. Some of the gowns worn were 125 years old. Each year. Highmore holds an Old Settlers Day and this being the Bicentennial year they had a special celebra tion on the 19th. Each of the 50 states were represented with floats in the parade, as well as the high school band in full uniform. A Shriners Motorcycle Cub of Huron, a demolition squadron as well as many more floats of churches and organizations made this a most impressive parade. The parade lasted one and one-half hours. In the evening they had a musical "Where The West Began." followed by a dance This is an annual event when all the former Highmorites plan to have their vacation. Needless to say the Miners saw many people that they hadn’t seen for forty years. From there, they visited relatives and went to Spear fish, South Dakota. Sturgis, they visited the Black Hills National Military Cemetery, "The Arlington of the West.” They returned home with many memories and much pleasure at having renewed so many old ac quaintances. auxiliary The ladies of the Eagles Auxiliary No. 2134 held their regular meeting at the Eagles Hall on Tuesday. June 15. Membership quota pins were awarded to Fern Klein and Kay Carpenter for recruiting the most new members this past year. The chaplain pin was received by Sharon Krause. Following the meeting members made table deco rations for the Bicentennial dance to be held July 10. The next regular meeting will be at the Eagles Hall, Tuesday, July 6 at 8 p.m. Gretta Evans will demon strate how to make macramè Any member wishing to participate is asked to bring eight strands of cord, each eight yards long, a ring and wig pins.
