Friday night the Nyssa
Sugarbeets moved into third
spot in the Border League
when they defeated Weiser
5-1 in a fast moving game at
the high school field.

Nyssa area produce pack
ing houses were being
geared for operations that
will get underway next week
on early spuds that show
every indication of bringing
"fabulous” prices, even if
early quotations drop to a
much lower level.
Some growers were reject
ing $4 offers for their early
spuds and reports were that
some potatoes might go as
high as $6 here.

The first white gopher
reported seen in the Nyssa
heights area was found at the
Glen Suiter farm recently.
Mr. and Mrs Suiter saw
the gopher about the place
and set a trap for it. They
were successful in catching
the albino rodent

mining operations have got
ten well underway on the
properties belonging to the
Mercury Mining Syndicate,
which controls an immense
deposit of quicksilver in
Southern Malheur County,
near McDermitt, according to
a letter received by County
Assessor A M Graham, from
Clifford G. Dennis, mining
engineer in charge of the
properties.
