Joining the Police Report FOURTEEN MEMBERS OF THE Seattle, Washington Mountaineers bicycle club wound their way down Nyssa's Main Street Thursday morning. They left Astoria. Oregon June 5 and are following a Bicentennial route to Williamsburg. Virginia. Their date of arrival there is August 2t>. The group of cyclists is "just one big happy family." They ail look out for one another and share each others joys and miseries. (They were all very happy and enthusiastic during our short visit). Each person carries his belongings on his bike and this varies in weight from 30 to 40 pounds. The eldest person on the trek is Bernice Tillson and she is 68. The youngest is Lori Schelgel and she is 12. This cross country trip was planned last September and one person plans and leads across each state, making reservations at camp grounds where they bed down for the nights and being responsible for that particular state. The leader across Oregon is Wait Carlson. 7VCC Offers Classes in Weaving Treasure Valley Commun ity College will be offering a new course during the summer session called Crea tive Art Project (weaving). The two credit course will be taught by Janet Takami. a recent Oregon State Univer sity graduate, whose major area of study was textiles. The course will cover such activities as simple loom construction and beginning as well as advanced tech niques in weaving. Special sessions will be devoted to spinning and dying wool from natural plants. In addition, there will be demonstrations and practical application of pattern weaving and loom formed clothing. The classes will be held in the college’s Art Shed on Monday. Wednesdays and Thursdays, 9 a.m. to 12 noon with the first class slated for Wednesday June 23. For more information con tact the college s Community Education office. nephew Hans Bruin of Holland attended the Bicen tennial Top Op Tour in Jordan Valley Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Vince Carter of Eugene. Oregon came last week and are visiting Mr. and Mrs. Don Fox. Fathers Day guests at a cook out on the Willis Conant lawn were Mr. and Mrs. Mitch Anderson and family of Cooa Bay; Mrs. Ralph Lewis and family of Nu Acres; Mr. and Mrs. Bill Conant and family; and Jim Conant and family. The family brought the food and Mr. and Mrs. Willis Conant were honored guests. Mr. and Mrs. Andy Soren sen of Los Banos, California came Sunday to spend a week with her mother. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Gehrke. Mrs. Paul Gehrke went to Los Angeles. June 5 by plane from Boise where she was met by her daughter. Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Hancock and family. She attended three graduations while she was there. Her son-in-law gra duated from La Verne Col lege on Sunday. June 6. Her During the first hot sum mer weekend of the year, Nyssa police were kept busy with "driving while under the influence" arrests. Arrested June 19 were Refugio Gutierrex, 49. Nyssa Labor Camp; Gilbert Lugo, 21. Nyssa; and Mateo Mora. 47. Nyssa. The three ap peared in Municipal Court Monday and were fined $305. Also arrested on Saturday were Michael Jones. 20. and Matthew Ure, 20, both of Nyssa. Ure was cited for minor in possession and released, to appear in Muni cipal Court later. Jones was cited for pos session of less than an ounce of marijuana. He will appear in Justice Court. Francisco and Baltasor Si mental. illegal aliens, were arrested June 19 and are being held for Immigration Officials. Three juveniles are being held in Malheur County detention after being arres ted in Nyssa Saturday on run away charges near Cove. Oregon. group later for ice cream and cake, were Mr. and Mrs. Rod Price. Sherri Price and Larry Fields. The celebration was in honor of the Phifer’s anniversary and the belated birthday of Carl Lee Hill. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Phifer of Madrass and Kenneth and Wanda Phifer of Redmond were Friday overnight guests of Mrs. Charles Bowers. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Piercy were Fathers Day dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Dockter. Fathers Day dinner guests in the Myron Osborn home were Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Osborn and family, Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Osborn. Mr. and Mrs. Mike Osborn and family and Mrs. Grace Ceariey of Emmett. Mrs. Ceariey came on Friday and will remain for a few days visit with her daughter. Mr. and Mrs. Myron Osborn. The Board has calculated that the tax rate per 11,000.00 of true cash value, if approved, shall be $2.61.
