Engagement Announced

Former Nyssa Boy Is
Mr, and Mrs. Dennis
Francis of Nyssa proudly
announce the birth of their
first child, a son, Robert
Damon. The new arrival was
born Saturday, May 22, 1976
in St. Luke's Hospital in
Boise, Idaho. He weighed in
at eight pounds and two
ounces and measured twenty
two inches in length
Beaming grandparents are
Mr. and Mrs. Edward Jantz
of Lebanon and Mrs. Arlene
Francis of Annandale. Virg.

THE ENGAGEMENT OF MISS JODIE HARPER, of
Nampa to Phil Pinckard of Kansas City, Missouri has been
announced by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph B Harper of
Nampa Miss Harper is a graduate of Nampa High School and
Northwest Nazarene College of Nampa She teaches eighth
grade Math and Science at the Nyssa Junior High School. Her
fiance is the son of Mr and Mrs Delbert E. Pinckard of
Nampa He is a graduate of Morrisville High School, in
Morrisville. Pennsylvania and Olivet Nazarene College in
Kanakrc, Illinois He isa student at the Theological Seminary
in Kansas City A July 13 wedding is planned at the Nampa
College Church of the Nazarene
hunting Home Hingo Game*
Bingo games at the nurs­
ing home were highlighted
last Thursday. Players were
served ice cream cones while
they played.
This did not seem to
distract from the playing nor
the player's winning abilities
as each one of the eighteen
participants was a winner at
least once during the mor­
ning
More and different prizes
had been donated which
added to the enjoyment of
selecting prizes. Thanks for
the prizes and assistance.

Mr and Mrs. Cal Farr, nee
Marilyn Lewis, of Provo,
Utah are the proud parents of
a baby girl, born Friday, May
14. She was named Ka­
therine and tipped the scales
at nine-pounds. She joins
three brothers. Jeff, age 7,
Jaron, age 5, and Ryan, age
3.
Grandparents are Mrs.
Dorothea Mitchell of Nyssa
and Mr. and Mrs. Ken Farr,
former residents of rural
Nyssa, now living in Ogden.

California, wish to announce
the arrival of their second
child, a girl, named Ashley
Rexann. who arrived April
29. 1976.
She joins a three-and-a
half-year-old sister. Hayley

and the late Phyllis Youhg
and Mr. and Mrs. Howard
Scott of Route 1, Brady,
Nebraska.
Lebanon High Graduate
Kelly Tomb, seventeen
year old son of former
Nyssans, Mr. and Mrs.
Kenneth Toomb will be
among the 330 seniors
graduating from Lebanon
Union High School June 3.

Kelly Toomb
Kelly is a young man of
many talents and achieve­
ments. Av a junior his picture
and biography were pub­
lished in Who's Who Among
American High School Stu­
dents and he was a delegate
to Beaver Boys State. As a
first year Thespian, he
earned awards for best
supporting actor, best Cameo
actor (first year actor),
technical excellence and was
elected historian.
He is a member of the
concert choir and “The
Crescendos,” a selected en­
semble group. He had the
lead part of Creon in
"Antigone" last fall, and a
lead part in "Hansel and
Gretel" this spring.
An accomplished artist.
Kelly has won many awards
and recognition for his works.
In addition to his art classes
in school, he also takes night
classes at Linn-Benton Com-

xiliary of Nyssa will be
hosting the area Girl's State
Tea. Saturday, June 5 at the
Twilight Cafe dining room at
2 p m. Girls State delegates
and their parents from
Ontario, Vale. Adrian and
Nyssa are cordially invited to
attend.
Nyssa will be sending two
delegates to the Girl's State
convention in June for the
first time due to the
generosity of Mrs. Nora Gra-
ham. past Legion president
and past district president
who has financed Beth Cal-
houn's part of the trip. Beth
will accompany Sally Looney,
the other delegate. Julie
Gamer, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Dee Gamer, has been
named as alternate to replace
Beth Calhoun. She will be
attending the convention if
one of the other delegates is
unable to attend.

The ANK Garden Club
met for the May meeting at
the home of Mrs. Gladys
Newbill with Mrs. Burton
Barnes as co-hostess. After
being served a delightful
desert and dnnk by the
co-hostess. Mrs. Barbara
Powers of Parma showed her
slides of Hawaii. She told of
the Powers' bee industry in
the Islands and explained
how bees were transported
from smaller islands to the
Island of Hawaii.
Mrs. Hazel Westervelt of
Longview, Washington was a
guest, as teas Mrs. Ruth
Steele of Roswell. Mrs. Steel
joined our club, making
A.N.K.’s second new mem­
ber this spring. Mrs. Carolyn
Witty became a member
earlier.
A short business meeting
followed our interesting pro­
gram.
Our June meeting will be a
brunch with Mrs. Joe Perecz
in Parma.

JESSICA. LEFT, AND AMY LINVILLE of Adnan, proudly
pose in front of their playhouse in the family’s back yard. The
story book, two story building was constructed by their dad.
Billy Linville, from scraps of material. The girls plan to spend
many fun-time hours in the little house this summer. It has a
kitchen in the lower level and wall-to-wall carpeting in the
upstairs living room. Plans in the near future is to carpet the
walls.
Grandparents of the youngsters are Don and Virginia
Linville, who owned and operated the Owyhee Grocery at
Owyhee Junction for approximately 15 years.

The Stardusters O.E.S.
met May 24 at the home of
Louise Wernick with Patricia
Marcum assisting. Cleta de
Boer, president presided at
the meeting with twelve
members answering roll call.
A discussion was held on
the bazaar. Officers elected
for the coming year are: Cleta
deBoer, president; Beatrice
Grossnickle, vice-president;
Ida Miner, secretary; Gladys
Newbill. treasurer and Louise
Wernick. publicity.
This was the last meeting
until fall unless a special
meeting is called by the
president during the summer.

Kelly plans to attend Wil­
lamette University in Salem
next fall, majoring in techni­
