Nyssa, Oregon Walkathon Winners Receive Prizes There were 129 kids from Nyssa and Adrian who rode on three school buses April 17 to Ontario to see the Wait Disney movie "No Deposit No Return.” Thia was a special prize donated by the Centre Theater for all the kids who walked for the March of Dime*. Upon returning to Nyssa the awards were presented at the Nyssa South Park Each participant received a certifi cate and special awards were given. The grand prizes of two bicycles were swarded to Cindy Wada of Ontario, the girl collecting the most money (over $400.00) and a Vale boy. Tony Guerrica- gortia. for the boy turning in the most money, over $287. Debra Ulrey collected the most money for Nyssa, $284.81, and won a pocket calculator from Michael! Pharmacy. Arthur Leok of Adrian collected $181.20 which woe him a Mickey Mouse cake. Carlos Galindo was third with $90 00 and received a Donald Duck cake. Oldest walker was Jose Martinez. 38. a fishing pole from The Nyssa Co-op The youngest was Robert DeLeon 6. a $10,000 Pyramid game from the Nyssa Merc Blas Guerra Jr., was the Aral to walk the 24 miles receiving a transitor radio from Fiesta Farms. The Jose Martinez family won a family dinner for four from Brownies Cafe for having the most family members to walk. Debra Ulrey had the most sponsors (64) winning a wrist watch from Paulus Jewelry. Sgt Myron McCrady Marine Sergeant Myron L. McCrady, 2». son of Mr. and Mr». Red McCrady of 207 Ennis Avenue. Nyssa, has reported for duty with Force Troops. 3rd Marine Division, on Okinawa A 1965 graduate of Nyssa High School, he joined the Marine Corps in June of 1972. and Mr*. Cecil Evan* of Nu Acres. A mezzo-soprano, Mrs. Evan* is a senior at Idaho State University at Pocatello. Mother's Day was cele brated at the Cecil Evans home with a family picnic on the lawn. Geests attending were Mr. and Mr*. Larry Ziegler, and family; Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Russel and family; and Mr. •nd Mr». Frank Ziegler. The Fruitland Fair was great, but hot, hot, hot I There was a parade featuring antique car* and tractor* and lots of kids. For food, the men of the Lion's Club put on a delicious barbecued chicken dinner. it gave an opportunity for Future Farmers of America. Future Homemakers of Ame rica, the 4-H club», and the Art Department» of both Junior and Senior High School» to display their work and abilities. Exhibits and competition in cooking and »ewing were all fantastic. The children do beautiful work. Livestock shown were ail quite young, the same animals that are being raised and groomed for the fall fairs. Lots of prize» and ribbons were awarded, and the Nu Acre* youngsters made a good showing, with a number of blue ribbons and several purple one». Gertye Jones, president, presided at the meeting. Members answered roil call with their favorite flower. Most of the members pro vided the program by giving suggestions for starting new plants.
