All our senses tell us so....A man killed and then coming back to life? Nah!! Couldn't be! Medically impossible and unsound theory! I'll bet someone snuck in and swiped the body, making it just look like a resurrection!" All these words and thoughts go through our minds as we approach this special season of Easter. For centuries, people have debated and pondered the events of Easter week. 1 think it would be helpful for us to recollect some helpful words of Paul: "For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. For it is written, *1 will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and the cleverness of the clever I will thwart'....For the foolishness of God is wiser than men. and the weakness of God is stronger than men." (I Cor. 1:18-19, 25). That skeptic. Thomas, was speaking for al) of us when he demanded to see the holes and the cuts on the resurrected Christ. We're all from Missouri, in that it's hard for us to believe unless we see it ourselves. If the resurrection seems impossible to you. ponder the following: 1. ) Who created who? We forget that we are the creations of God; not the other way around. God is just too perfect to be the product of a human being. Everytime we try to do something which excludes Him. we fall as flat as the last cake I tried to bake. If God is our creator, and we affirm He is. then He can do anything under the sun-even that which seems impossible to us. Perhaps, when skeptical, we need to re-examine our perspective; are we createes or creators. I submit it is the former. 2. ) If the resurrection seems impossible to us. think upon the idea of how impossible we must seem to God! Two old theologians were arguing, one day. and Browne said to McCabe- "Do you really think God would create us. if He knew how we would come out?" Answered McCabe. "Do you really think God could have created this world if He hadn’t seen how it was coming out? The point being, that which is impossible to us doesn’t mean it's so for God.... 3. ) Consider the powerful thought and idea behind the resurrection. God's love for us is strong enough to overcome anything. Jesus went through all this for you and me; no matter who we are or what we have done in the past. A love powerful enough to show us we are cared for. in a world that is filled with apathy, is a strong enough love to overcome death. 4. ) Finally, try the means of communication with God called "Prayer”. God gives us every chance, perhaps we should give Him a chance. If we take our doubts to Him - openly, now. none of this "God. tell me what I want to hear!” - we will find answers. The wisdom of the wise is not always the wisdom of God. the giver of all knowledge. The resurrection! Impossible? April 18. will mark the third annual celebration at the Boise Basque Center of "Aberri Eguna" (Day of the Country) The traditional patriotic holi day is commemorated by numerous Basque com munities throughout the world. The day's festivities will begin at II a.m. with a weight pulling competition (prob'ak) open to challenge on the grounds of the Center. A Basque mass celebrated by Father Juan Garatea and the reading of a "Basque Day" proclamation will follow at 1 p.m. "Bertsolari" Manu Basabe will sing impromptu verses solemnizing the occa sion during and after the celebration of the Easter mass. From 2 to 2:30 p.m., the public is invited to a Basque meal featuring traditional roast lamb. The meal will be proceeded by an afternoon of cultural entertainment begin ning at 4 p.m. with the Omkari Basque Dancers and a program of singers and be rt solaria. At 5 p.m. the Aberri Eguna activities will move to the nearby fronton for pelota competition pitting Mario and Jaime Ibarra against Lino Zabala and Jose Maria Artiach. Benito Goitiandia. Oregon; 16 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren He was preceded in death by his wife. Ruth H. Foster Services tor Ruth Hazel Foster, who died Monday, April S. 1976 in a plane crash in Ketchikan.
