Deposits Prove Popular
Peak consumer interest in
First National Bank of Ore­
gon's new social security
direct deposit program was
reported by bank officials.
Over 5.500 social security
recipients registered for the
new service at First National
branch offices during the first
five days of the sign-up
period.
The free direct deposit
program, effective October 3,
allows social security re­
cipients to have their checks
mailed directly to First
National for automatic de
posit into either checking or
savings accounts.
First National will guaran­
tee the deposit to the
recipient's selected account

Oh Wow. Our company
just left this morning and
been trying to get things back
to normal before writing.
Like, have you any idea how
many towels seven people
use on a weekend? And I
don't think the carpet in front
of the shower will ever dry
out.
My niece Rachael, Mrs.
Dan Harvey of Salem, slept
on the swing in the patio and
said it made her seasick.
Last night I slept out there
too on a couch, so my kittens
wouldn't be shut out in the
rain Did you know cats don't
sleep at night? I spent hours
persuading them to sleep in
their bed. not on me. Now I
know why they call w hat I did
"cat napping.’*
Mr. and Mrs. Charles
Baldwin arrived Thursday
from Kingsburg. Ca. Then
we called my brother. Ralph
Rice, to join us. So he and his
wife Ina. and daughter
Rachael drove over from
Salem.
Rachael could come be-
cause her husband had gone
deep sea fishing with her
brother, and wouldn't miss

We went to church mor­
ning and evening and filled
up a pew each time. Sunday
night, after church, joined a
group at Joan and Pheral
Dodsons in Fruitland for a
sing time at their home.
Visiting Mr. Francis Cam
man last week were his son
and family from Portland.
Mr and Mrs. Gene Camman.
Mike and Mark. While here,
the group and their cousins.
Mr. and Mrs. Ben Payne,
visited Mr. and Mrs. Quentin
Mikesell in Notus.
A trip to Westfall was
made by the Cammans and
Paynes in order to visit the
old stone house where
Francis Camman was bom
Another trip was made for a
visit to the Malheur County
Fair.
Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Gene
Rife of Boise visited Mr. and
Mrs. Ben Payne. Other
visitors that same day were
Mr. and Mrs. Quentin
Mikesell and his father from
Kansas and Mr. and Mrs. Syl

Robert Bowels and children
of Medford came Tuesday to
visit her parents. Mr. and
Mrs. George DeHaven. They
returned home on Friday.

visit her parents, Mr. and

mother. Mrs. Pauline King of
Ontario and other relatives in
this area. They plan to visit

Dalles and all enjoyed a
picnic and visit at The Dalles
Park.

left Tuesday after a three
weeks visit with Mr. and
Mrs. Dwight Seward and
other relatives. They will tour
Yosmite National Park before
going on home.
