Parents of the newlyweds are Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Steiner of Adnan and Mr and Mrs. Elmen Leavitt of Nyssa. 20 YEARS AGO .30 YEARS AGO Mrs. Hazel Lane and Mrs Helen Gonyer returned from Monmouth. Oregon, Wednes day evening. They had attended a leadership con ference on the college cam pus under the leadership of the Oregon Education Asso ciation on August 7 to 9. Kansas brought Mrs Bertha Busier of Her miston to Nyssa for two days last week to visit at the home «if her brother and sister-in law. Mr. and Mrs. Owen Gann. Owen is Mr. Sullivan's uncle. On Tues- day, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Fernlund of Medford brought Mrs. Bessie Fernlund to visit with the Ganns for three days while the other Femlunds visited in Caldwell. Bessie and her husband. Carl Fern lund, were neighbors of the Ganns when they all lived in Kansas. Mr. and Mrs. Walt Looney and boys hosted a dinner Monday evening for Mr and Mrs Hiro Kido, Sharlene, Scott and Clark and Mr. and Mrs. E. D. Michaelson. • • • Mrs. Iona Flinders and Mrs. Carolvn Blaylock took their Sunday School classes on an outing to Meridian Tuesday afternoon to the Lorin Saunders home. They enjoyed swimming, playing on the trampolene and playing pool before eating a very large picnic lunch. • • • Judy Nedry arrived Satur day and is spending one week visiting her parents. Mr. and Mrs. Dirick Nedry Judy was here for the wedding of her cousin. Mardi Tensen to Dick Butcher. August 16. Mr. and Mrs. David Hartwig, nee Janet Nedry. and their little foster child. Tommy, of Waco, Texas, arrived Tuesday and will be vacationing for ten days at the home of the Dinck Nedrys. Mem bers of the congregation, together with Holy Trinity Church in Vale,will gather at 12 noon for worship. A picnic dinner will follow. Cars will gather at the church shortly before 11:30 Sunday to offer rides to all who need them. There will be a brief Communion service at the church at the regular 11:00 o'clock hour. Later in the evening a group of men organized for a street dance, which was continued until about 12:30 a m. Wednesday. Various men. using a truck as a platform, furnished music for the occasion. Among them were the Sanders brothers. Bert Lienkaemper. Jerry Crandall, Dave Hawkins and Robert McDonald. Businessmen had made no previous arrangements for closing of stores, so they closed their stores Wednes day Although all federal buildings were closed be cause of a two-day holiday called by President Truman, most of the business houses in Nyssa were open today as usual. 40 YEARS AGO Girl Scouts of Nyssa and Kingman Kolonv returned Sunday evening from a very enjoyable week spent camp ing at the Kiwanis Camp on Silvan Beach. Lucille Thresher and Pearl Williams 50 YEARS AGO Christian Church A farewell party was given Mr. and Mrs. Frank Stubbs Monday evening at the Odd Fellows Hall by the people of the community. A large crowd was in attendance and a most enjoyable time was had. Many eipressions of regret were heard over the loss to the community of Mr. and Mrs. Stubbs. We will especially feel the loss of Mrs Stubbs' helpful efforts in arranging musical pro grams. An enjoyable feature of the evening was a big feed, in preparing which Nyssa ladies excel.
