The Pee Wef Tournament held last week in Nyssa was completed Wednesday night as Tiffany Glove of Pa yette claimed the champion- , ship when they met Cow Hollow in the final game of the tournament. Tiffany Glove won the game 13 to 3. In the Consolation bracket of the Tournament Cairo defeated Fruitland #3 to claim the Consolation tro phies. They viewed the parade at Vale earlier in that evening. Mr. and Mr*. Ken (Charles Shepherd of Navajo. Arizona were weekend guests at the home of Mr. Shepherds’ nephew, Ken Lorensen and family. The Shepherds are enroute home after a months vacation of traveling. Sunday dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mr*. Ken Lorensen were Lester Headden of Ontario and Mr. and Mrs. Ken Shepherd of Arizona. Shepherds left for home Monday July 7. Gloria Lorensen and mo ther, Mr*. Ken Lorensen attended a shower in honor of Barbara Phelps, who plans a marriage soon to Russel Nelson. The shower was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. David Phelps who live on Overstreet Road, Tuesday evening July 1. The Jack Wood lawn was the gathering place for a family reunion on the July 4th. Girls Softball After 3 losses the Nvssa Giris Softball team has won thetr last two games. Last Tuesday they played the Fruitland »1 team and beat them 28 to 6. Lori Cleaver got 4 hit*. Sara Marcum and Nancy Mecham both had 3 hits, Julie Hipp and Donna Olde- meyer. Tonya Tagi. Mellissa Cleaver. Kathy Haburchak each get two hits, with Judy Mecham and Debbie Siman tel one hit each. On Monday the Nyssa girls traveled to Midvale, Ida and won a game 42 to 0. In the lopsided score. Cheryl Pounds got 6 hits while Donna Oldemeyer had 5; Lori Cleaver. Jennifer of Boise, Mr. and Mr*. Bill Yraguen and family of Boise were Sunday visitor* at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ora Newgen. Mr. and Mr*. Ora Newgen were among members of a family gathering at the Robert Forney and family home in Nampa July 4. Keith Forney and family of Walla Walla were visitors at the Robert Forney home. Mr. and Mr*. John Grot- veitt of Nyssa were visitor* at the Harold Aleiander home on the 4th of July. Mr. and Mr*. Ernie Prince house of Ontario and Mr. and Mrs. Loyd Adam* were dinner guest* Monday at the home of Mr*. John Reffett. Mr and Mr*. Richard Gray of the Portland area were overnight guests Saturday at the home of Mrs. Gray’* grandmother. Mrs. O. P. Counsil. They attended a class reunion at the Park in Nyssa Sunday and left afterward for their home. John Knottingham and Charles Moore were dinner guests at the home of Mr*. O. P. Counsil Friday. The Rev. and Mr*. Paul Knottingham and children of Weiser were later guests in the Counsil home. Nyssa scored 7 run* in the first inning and the game was out of reach for the Fruitland girls as Nyssa held them to one run each in the 2nd and 3rd innings and 2 runs in the Sth. The game was called at the end of the Sth inning with the score 18 to 4. Sara Marcum went the distance and allowed 4 hit* and walked one. Nyssa team members col- lecting hits were Tony* Otagi. The Hood River Legion team took the first game 3 to I when the pitcher from Hood River hit a home run to break a I to I tie and to win the game. in the second game. Bill Marcum broke the game open with 5 RBI's in 2 innings. In the third inning with Hood River leading 2 to 0 With Weymouth and Latham on 2nd and 3rd. Marcum hit a double down in the left field corner to score Weymouth and Latham and Marcum scored when Stu Ward hit a sacrafice fly in left. Ontario then led the game 3 to 2. The fourth inning, with Brad Holcomb and Mark Latham on base. Bill Marcum hit hi* first Junior Legkin home run to make the score 6 to 2. Ontario came up with 7 more runs in the 5th innings to break the game wide open Stu Ward went the dis lance for Ontario, picking up the win. Mon., July 7 Ontario Legion team hos ted the Nampa legion team Monday night at TVCC with the host team winning the first game 9 to 2 . then dropping the second game of the twin bill 3-0. Nampa scored one run first in the first game then Ontario came up with 3 runs when Aronson walked , then reached home on pass balls Stu Ward then walked and Dan Thompson got a hit Stu Ward came home when he and Thompson advanced on a double steal and Tony Rob erts hit a double scoring Thompson to lead 3 to I at the end of the inning Ontario scored 2 more in the 3rd inning and 4 in the fourth to end the scoring Pete Saldana the winning pitcher, went all the way.
