Thursday. June 12, 1975 Social Scene On a two-week bus trip to Kansas. Blanche Week» of Nys»a and her sister. Mrs. Otis Squires of Boise, visited many friends and relatives in three towns. In Russell, they saw their »ister-in-law, Mrs. Bertha Weeks. In Ransom, they visited another sister-in-law, Nellie Weeks, and two brothers and their families, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Weeks and Mr. and Mrs. Don Weeks. In Wakeeney, they found Mrs. Albert Mai, a niece, and Pearl Farr, a cousin. They also visited several other friends. • • • Mr and Mrs. Don Savage and Kris enjoyed an evening barbecue at the home of Mr. and Mr». Rick York and daughter« in Parma on Saturday. • • • THE STAN JESSOP FAMILY Attended the Pioneer Party, which wag held by Mrs. Mitchell's fourth-graders. Fourth-Graders Create Pioneer Food at Party a On Friday. May 2, 1975. al 7 pm., Mr». Mitchell'» fourth grade da»»nx>m held a Pioneer Party at Arcadia School. We had five committee», which were: Vinegar Taffy. Sourdough Pancakes, Maple Syrup and Johnny Cake» Everybody helped churn but ter. We also made jerky, which is not done yet. I think everybody had a really great time. (I hope they did.) And thank you, Mrs. Mitchell, for holding the party We all learned to cook many thing» Yoland Urrutia and I were on the Johnny Cake com mittee. My Mom. Gretchen, and my Dad. Stanley, helped Nobody liked the Johnny Cake» much because it didn't have anything but egg» to make it rise. Leslie Jessop, reporter On May 2. 1975, we had a Pioneer Party at 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. My committee made »tiur- dough pancakes, the other committees made jerky, taffy johnny cakes, treeless maple syrup and we danced the Virginia Reel. June 9, at the home of Ida Miner The meeting was presided over by Myrtle Sasser, newly installed pre sident . Fourteen member* answered roll call. The first Saturday in December was the dale set for the Bazaar This was the last meeting of the Stardusters for the summer They will resume meeting again this fall. Hostesses were Ida Miner and Laura Penrod. Weekend gue»ts of Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Haroldsen were their son. Jess, his wife, Elaine, and son David. Marie Moore Paula and Francine York of Vale were Saturday overnight gue»ts in the Alfred Simpson home, Al Simpson returned home from the Nampa Hospital Wednesday. Mrs. Le Roy Sprague was among those of this area who attended the Witty's 50th Wedding Anniversary cele bration at the Adrian Com munity Presbyterian Church social room Sunday afternoon Former l\y**an Graduate* With Hmor* Houseguests,Mr. and Mrs. Glare Harris,from Sunnyside. Washington arrived at the home of Mr and Mrs. Lewis Riggs on Monday. Tuesday the Harris' and the Riggs' attended the funeral of Alma Hams in Caldwell. Later they visited Mr. and Mrs. David Dredge in Caldwell. Enroute to Nyssa they called at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Manning in Notus Mr. and Mr*. Hams retur ned home Wednesday. • a a Mrs. Norm Smith of Tucson. Arizona, returned to her home Tuesday after spending a week at the home of her mother. Mrs. Dorothy Nolen. The Susannah Circle wil meet at 1 p.m. at the home of Mrs. C. L. Fritts on June 19 to tie quilts. Mrs. Lucile Reed and Mrs. Nell Correll were shopping in Boise on Friday and also visited in the Cleo Whtttom home. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Knox of Springfield. Oregon visited over the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. William Knox. Jodene Sepulveda Mrs. Armando Sepulveda (Jodene Shaw) graduated from Angelina College in Lufkin. Texas, on May 18. 1975, with an Associate of Science Degree. In July she will take her State Board exam and work as a registered nurse. Jodene was a member of the Honor Society, was on the Dean's list and the Honor Roll. She graduated with honors and was in the top ten of a large class. Jodene attended Nyssa High School. Mr. and Mrs. Sepulveda live in Dibell. Texas. They have two little girls. Carmen and Anita. Armando is employed by Temple Indus tries. Jodene’s mother is Do rothy Shaw, who is a LPN at Malheur Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Shaw and family atten ded the graduation exercises. Mrs. Tunis Garner of Namps is spending two weeks with her prent». Mr. and Mrs Leon Chamberlain while her husband is in the National Guard. Mr. and Mrs. Norman Churchhill and Mrs. Imai Bowman of Pasco. Washing ton were recent visitors of Mrs. Rollo Fenn. They had been visiting relatives in Ho me dale. Saturday afternoon Mrs. Rollo Fenn went to Parma and visited her niece Elvina Horton and her family. In the evening her daughter. Mr. and Mrs. Walls and their daughter took her mother, Mrs. Elvina Horton and Mrs. Rollo Fenn to Nampa where they had Chinese food to celebrate Mrs. Elvina Horton and Mrs. Rollo Fenn's birthdays. Mrs. Rollo Fenn. Mrs. Erma Sparks. Mrs. Dorothy Sappe of Nyssa went fishing at Malheur Reservoir. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Webb went fishing at Beulah Reservoir with Mr. and Mrs. George Baker of Vale, Thursday. Friday and Satur day. Fishing was poor. They got a few trout. Gilbert Deffenbaugh of Nyssa and Mrs. Manon York and children were Sunday afternoon visitors in the Ray Simpson home. Monday evening dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. R. D McKinley were Mr. and Mrs. M. McKinley were Wednesday evening dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Russell McKinley in Boise. Their son Russell had just returned from a year of attending school in Spain. Kurtz of Bouse, Arizona, Mrs. Marie Moore and Mrs. Edna Cowling. Mr and Mrs W. C. Van De Water of Caldwell visited Mrs. Dale Witt Wednesday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. John Thomp son of Othello.Washington visited Mrs. Dale Witt Sunday afternoon. They were on their way home from a vacation trip to Marshall County. Kansas where they and the Witts were neighbors Mary Jarvis went to Corvallis Thursday to attend her daughter. Julia Stephens graduation. Cheese and spaghetti has both a white and red sauce. Favorite foods turn fabulous with new ideas from dairyland. And June is Dairy Month is a perfect time to try your hand at zipping up some familiar standbys with nutritious flavorful dairy products. It's absolutely amazing what a little cheese sauce here or yogurt dressing there can do for even the most prosaic family fare! To make familiar entrees new and interesting, cheese is an outstanding in gredient for main dish wizardry. This double sauced spaghetti is a delicious example. Because all Oregon cheeses are made from milk, they contain milk's protein, calcium and other nutrients in concentrated form. They come tn a wide range of flavors and textures from mild and soft to pungent and hard so there is just the right cheese for every purpose. SPAGHETTI WITH CHEESE AND CLAMS I onion, chopped 6 tablespoons butter 2 medium tomatoes, chopped Salt Vi teaspoon pepper Vi teaspoon basil 1 (10 ounce) can whole baby clams, drained 2 tablespoons minced parsley 2 tablespoons flour I chicken bouillon cube 1 cup milk ¥» cup grated romano cheese 8 ounces spaghetti Boiling salted water Saute onion in J tablespoons butter J minutes. Add tomatoes, Ji teaspoon salt, pepper and basil. Simmer, stirring often. 15 minutes. Stir in clams and parsley. Heat through and keep warn. Melt remaining 3 tablespoons butter. Blend in flour and bouillon cube. Stir in milk and % teaspoon salt. Cook, stirring until melted. Keep warm. Cook spaghetti in boiling salted water 8 to 10 minutes. Drain. Turn into heated bowl. Pour on hot cheese sauce. Spoon hot clam sauce over top. Sprinkle with remaining */« cup cheese. Makes 4 servings. Mr. and Mrs. George Schiemer are the proud parents of a baby boy "Rodney Lowe." born June 4 in the Caldwell Hospital. He weighed eight-pounds and 13-ounces. The children of Mr. and Mrs. Marion York stayed with their grandmother. Mrs. Ray Simpson while their parents attended a sale in Caldwell. Mr. and Mrs. R. D. Ray and Goldie Linville of Caldwell were Saturday din ner guests of Mr and Mrs. Don Linville. Mrs. Edith Suter and Frank Warren of Parma visited Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Topliff Sunday afternoon. Mike Connell and his brother Gabe spent Saturday night with their cousin Tony Asumendi. Valorie Smith spent from Saturday until Monday with her cousin Shelly Cable in Fruitland. Mr. and Mrs. Burton Barnes went to the Watson site Wednesday. They were accompanied by Mrs. Anna Long. Mrs. Gene Simpson and Mrs. Dave Savage and girls were Sunday afternoon cal lers of Mrs. Carl Fenn. Mr and Mrs. LeRoy Sprague attended the Forest Service pincic in Boise Saturday evening. McKinley visited his brother. Mr. and Mrs. Russell Mc Kinley in Boise Sunday afternoon.
