Lewis Mil,hell and Henry Mitchell were dinner guests at the home of Mr and Mrs A. T. Knowles. SUNSET VALLEY ACTIVITIES BY MARTHA LORENSEN Sunset Valiev - Mr*. Jack Wood and Mr*. Oti* Swigert spent Friday and Saturday of last week al the home of Jeff Parker in Irrigon, Oregon. They attended the horse sale al Hermiston. They returned home Sunday evening. Michael Smith and Mi chele Farritor were married February 14 al Ravenna, Nebraska. Smith is a grand son of Mrs. Hattie Smith, Johnstown, Nebraska. He is a great grandson of Mrs. Harriet Turner and a nepehw of Mrs. Ken Lorensen and PHONE 371 - SIM Wilbur Chapin of this area. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Forney of Nampa were dinner guests Monday al the Ora Newgen home. Mrs. Bob Moore, Hill. Mike, and Sonia were guests for Monday evening dinner at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ora Newgen. The Rev. and Mrs. Floyd Perkins of Beaverton, Oregon were weekend guests of Mrs E. J. Hobson and other relative* in this are. Mrs. Perkins is a niece of Mrs. Hobson. Kenneth Chard and son Lance of the Portland area left for their home on Tuesday after spending a few days with the Elver Nielsen* and visiting their relatives in this area. Harriet Lorensen attended a lingerie shower honoring Debbie Howers at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Dockter tn Adrian Wedne* day evening. Harriet and Gloria Loren sen attended a wedding shower al the Presbyterian Church Saturday honoring Mr and Mrs. Lennie Martin. Mr and Mrs Ken Loren sen were visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Lovitt Saturday afternoon. Mrs. Harriet Turner of Owyhee Junction and Mr. and Mrs Ken Lorensen, Harriet and Gloria were dinner guests at Brownie's Cafe in Nyssa Sunday eve ning An Owyhee Community Church group with the Rev. Page Three and Mr*. Fred Mosom held an hour service Sunday afternoon at the Malheur Memorial Nursing home. Special singing by the Niel sen Quartet. Mrs. Hass with her accordian and the Loren sen sisters along with group singing formed the program along with a message by the Rev. Moxom. Thirteen member* of the Owyhee Community Church attended the •‘Harvester» All-Day Rally" at the Wo mens Club house in Ontario Saturday. Mr. and Mrs Ken Loren sen were at Caldwell at 10 a.m.. Monday to attend memorial service* for Edith Jacobson who was a former Nebraska friend. Ora Newgen was a guest Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mr*. Bob M<x>re Ora Newgen was a Satur day afternoon visitor al the Culver Brother* home in Ro*well. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Culbertson. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Kygar, Mr and Mrs. Tom Duncan and family of Ontario. Mr and Mrs. Buster Talbot and Rusty Talbot attended a dinner at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Culbertson honoring the forty fourth wedding anniversary of Mr and Mr*. Charles Culbertson. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Price and Sherri were dinner guests Sunday evening at the home Price. Mr and Mrs. Ira Price were among those who attended the open house honoring the 25th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Price which was held Sunday, February 9 at their home in the Ridgeview area. Mr and Mrs. Ira Price attended the Pomona Grange meeting at the Grange Hall in Vale Saturday. Town And Country The Town and Country Garden Club met Ihursday, February 13 al the home of Margaret Sage with Myrtle Sasser co hostess. Refresh ments were served to eleven members and one visitor. Following the business meeting presided over by the president, Mac Schircnian, a lesson on the theme. “Green Under Glass" was given by REBEKAHS MEET Yellow Rose Rebekah Lodge 4202 met Tuesday. February II at the IOOF Hall Noble Grand. Emily Clapp presided with twenty- one member* present. It was reported that thirty- six member* and friends attended the birthday party for Nellie Newbill. Good of Order chairman Kathleen Wheeler had Emily Clapp escorted to the alter and with lovely verses, presented her a vase of ro*e* from the lodge. with promise* of all our help for her year to come. Anna Marosttca. junior past noble grand, was escorted and an addendum with fourteen members assisting, formed the words. Past Noble Grand, each letter pertaining to a verse for that letter. She was then presented a plate with the name* of all her officer* from the lodge The Charier wa* draped for Ralph Pauli, past Grand Master and Grand Secretary, who passed away recently. Hostesses were Helen Piltz and Leona Reeves. The next meeting will be Tuesday. February 25 at 7 p.m. Armine Hartman. She gave a very interesting demonstra tion on the making of a terrarium. A committee with Dorothy Nolen as chairman reported that they had taken copies of Teachers' Curriculum Guide to Conservation Education, to the school libraries. These guide* arc ba*cd on a study of People and Their Environ ment. This is a project of the National Council of State Garden Club*. Inc., which is carrying out the program through local member dub* Copic* of the guide* appli cable to the various grade level* were presented to the Primary. Elementary, Junior High and High School li braries. Guide* for Biology and Home Economics were also placed in the High School and one called Out door Laboratory covers gra de* one through twelve. These books will aid the teacher* to help the child become more aware of his surrounding* and how he can become personally involved Our dub is most happy to provide the guides for the libraries a* part of this national project. CANS SUGAR SENIOR CITIZEN ACTIVITIES The Nyssa Senior Citizen* met al their meeting place on Hower Avenue on Wednes day. February 12. The meeting opened with the pledge to the flag and was presided over by President Erma Sparks Twenty-eight answered roll call. The treasurer's report was ap proved I illian Meckem gave a Bicentennial report. A motion was made by Merle Johnson and seconded by Leona Reeves that the dress committee should decide on the material and the pattern for the dresses. Vina Fox showed bonnet patterns. It was decided that there shall be a birthday cake each month for the person or persons having birthday* in that particular month A new Area Planner.
