Th« Nyssa Gat« City Journal, Nyssa, Or«gon Pag« Four Myrna Anderson Improving Mrs. Michael Anderson, nee Myrna Sells, underwent surgery for a ruptured appen dix Weikiesday, March 13 at the Holy Rosary Hospital. She has been in critical con dition for several days but was reported much impro ved this week. Myrna is a former Nyssa girl now living in Ontario. Her family is very thank ful for the many prayers of friends during her illness. ORDER OF EASTERN STAR MR. AND MRS. DON' SOMERS ANNOUNCE the engage ment and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Martha, to Robert Ward, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Ward, all of Nyssa. Martha will be graduating from Oregon State University this spring completing her education in Institution Manage ment-Dietetics. Robert received a degree from the United Electronics Institute in October. He is currently employed by the Addressograph-Multigraph Company, Portland, Oregon. Both are 1970 graduates of Nyssa High School. A September 1 wedding is planned. Simpsons Back From Trip Mr. and Mrs. Ray Simp son of the Newell Heights area returned last Monday from a two-weeks visit with their son, Mr. and Mrs. Ray mond Simpson at Gres ham and their daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Holdt and fa mily at Vancouver. Snow and rain fell while they were there. The men went smelt fishing and all got their limits. While at the river with the Raymond Simpsons, they witnessed the tragic accident at Troutdale where a four teen year-old girl was killed when walking on a railroad bridge. Despite the accident the Simpsons reported a very nice trip, The Bill Holdts plan a trip here real soon. Kay Brendle May Have Visitors Kay Brendle underwent major surgery Monday, March 4. She is hospitalized at St. Alphonsus Hospital in Boise and is now allowed visitors. Her family esti mates she will be in the Boise hospital from one to two weeks. Golden Rule Chapter »131 met March 18 at the Ma sonic Hall with Worthy Ma tron Amelia Pratt presiding. Worthy Patron presided du ring the Good of Order. Chap ter held practice for Dis trict meeting to be held March 26 at Vale. A ban quet will preceed the meet ing and will be at 6 30 p.m. at the Golden Slipper. Hostesses were Bob and Della Holmes and Emil and Vera Paulus. Next meeting will be April 1 at 8 p.m. Town And Country Garden Club The Town L Country Gar den Club met with Mrs. Merle Thomson on Thurs day afternoon, March 14, with ten members present. Refreshments were ser ved, after which Mrs. Wm. Schireman, president, pre sided over the business meet ing. Mrs. John Stam pre sented an interesting lesson on ‘Trees." The Barracks and Auxi liary each held their own meeting. Nineteen members met with AnaloryCoppie, se nior vice president, presi ding. A new member, Nell Moss was introduced and given the Obligation. Virginia Sandy visited the Veteran’s Hospital in Boise. She reported that there were 174 patients there, and 19 are from Oregon. Election of officers was held and the following were elected and installed. Ana- lory Coppie, president, Gladys Moore, senior vice- president, Grace White, ju nior vice-president; Mary Glaves, treasurer, Jessie Scott, chaplain, Ruby Frank lin, conductress; and Ma bel Thompson, three-year trustee. The next meeting will be held Sunday April 21.
