Three In Finals of Nyssa Invitational College Board Tests Given N.H.S.Seniors SAM HARTLEY GETS A KISS for being the «inner in the 106 pound division of the Nyssa Invitational Tournament. Nyssa High School settled for third place in the 8th annual Nyssa Invitational, af ter winning their own tourney for the past two years, but Coach Mel Calhoun called it "the best ever.” Held last Friday and Saturttay, over 230 wrestlers were involved in 338 matches on 3 mats in two almost continuous days of wrestling. Caldwell was the winner with 117 points, followed clo sely by Nampa with 107. Nyssa scored 66 1/2 points for third place. and other hools followed with Vale 54 1/2; Homedale 52; Parma 51, Carroll Hi. Yakima 48, McCall 43; Madras 39 1/2, Kuna 35 1/2, Fruitland 29, Middleton 28 1/2, Burns 27, Weiser 22 1/2; Cambridge 16, Emmett 10, Grant Union 10; Garden Valley 10. New Plymouth 9 1/2; Adrian 4, Payette 1, Midvale 0. Lt. (Jg) Michael Wayne Carter. USN, son of Mr. and Mrs Jeff C alter of 1292SW 3rd Avenue is enjoying a well earned leave of absence fol lowing a tour of duty on the Navy destroyer Richard B. Anderson (DD 786) which is home-ported in Yokosuka. Japan Lt. (jg)Carter served as tiie ship's Gunnery Of ficer and the Combat infor mation Officer. Following his month long leave at home the handsome Naval Officer will proceed to San Diego, Calif, where tie will assume the duties as Squadron Ope rations and Training Officer for the staff of Commander Destroyer Squadr'ii Seven teen. A 1967 graduate of Ontario High School, LT. (jg) Car ter applied for and was ac cepted into the Navy's NRO TC Program which enabled him to receive his college education at Oregon State University As an NROTC graduate he received his Bac calaureate from OSU and also was commissioned as a Na val Officer. Ken neth J. Culverson, a Naval Flight Officer, who recently completed a tour of duty with Fighter Squadron 213 (The Black Lions) which was deployed on board the USSS Kittyhawk (CV-63).
