The Pacific Northwest Re
gional Commission released the

amounts of waste generated in
each county and made several
recommendations to the local
governmental units.
Primary among recommen
dations was that the counties
should work together in their
handling of solid wastes This
regionalized
concept would
make the ultimate cost of dis
posal to the residents cheaper

tion as in the past. The re
port suggests that one sani
tary landfill, centrally located
could handle all the waste from
the study area Fruitland was
considered as the most cen
trally located

through the Northwest Regional
Commission which ny made up
of the governors of Oregon.

of several regionalized solid
waste
management alterna
