A new attorney for the city
of Nyssa,
but a well-known
figure in Malhuer County, was
revealed this week. The pri
vate law practice of E. Otis
Smith, former district attorney
of Malheur County, will be re
sumed this coming week in the
sugar community at 20 North
Third Street.
In commenting on entering the
field of law in Nyssa, Smith
said he had confidence in this
stable community and lias a
• ide acquaintance in the area
which induced him to remain
in Malheur County, his home
since 1929.

The number of whooping cough
cases in the Nyssa schools con
tinue to increase, according to
Dr. E.J. Wainscott, Malheur
County health officer.
This
can be expected since the early
stage of the disease is its
most infectious period.

to the dairy interests of this
section was consummated this
week when a numtier of local
dairymen purchased the cheese
factory of H.S. Smith, who has
been successfully operating ttxe
same during the past season.
The new management will
tie in the form of a cooperation,
and will be composed of such
well known farmers and busi
nessmen as C.C. Hunt, E.M
Dean, Dick Tensen. G.L. Gib
son. DeBoer and J.J. Sarazin,
etc.
The market for the cheese
product is unlimited, several
different firms having offered
to take the entire output, and
the amount of cheese output
is dt pendent entirely upon the
available milk supply, and this
amount is expected to increase
by leaps and bounds until the
dairy industry becomes one of
ttie most important in ttxeSnake
Valley.
AKH EXTENSION
The AKH Home Extension
meeting was held Thursday at
ttie home of Mrs. Vera Webb
in Adrian. Twelve ladies at
tended. The lesson was given
by Mary I.aan and was on ageing.

shoplifting charges. According
to Officer Jr* Rodríguez, cases
of those taken into custody will

of the Oregon Dairy Commis
sion. The Dairy Wives made a
trip to the Owyhee Dam after
the meeting and had coffee at
the home of Mrs. Klaas Laan.
