The member’s husbands were special guests. A buffet lun cheon was served and a short business meeting followed. Mrs. Ruth Beck was voted in as vice president to fill the position left vacant when Karma Anderson moved away. Com mittees were named to serve. Gift Carrie Fife. Entertain ment Helen Peterson and Do rothea Mitchell. Program: Alice Moss and Lucille Pett. Steven Saunders gave a travelogue and showed slides of his experiences in Israel (hiring the past six months while he w s a student there from BYU under the di rection of Dr. Don. Peterson. The group wrote, directed and prepared a show of music and dancing and were invited to tcur the army camps and cities and present their show. Ano ther highlight was climbing Mt. Sinai to hold a sunrise service. They toured Madrid, Pans, Vienna and parts of Germany before returning home. The next club meeting will be held at Florence Lewis', date to be announced. Fifty workshop sessions for students will cover all phases of production for high school newspapers and yearbooks. All events will be in the Erb Me morial Union at the University. Cordon Jones, turf editor and racing handicapper for the Los Angeles Herald-Examiner, will be the speaker for the Friday night banquet. Jones, who received his mas ter’s degree in journalism from the U of O, has taught journalism at Oregon, Aritona State, and the University of Southern Ca- lifornia. He has held writing and editorial assignments with the Denver Post, Beverly Hills Times, San Francisco News, and has been on the staffs of a number of California and Ari zona television stations. Speaker at the all-conference session at 11 a.m. Friday will be Lucille Vaughan Payne of Brownsville, Oregon.
