BIG BEND - Mrs. Rex Smith returned home Saturday from <,the Mercy Hospital in Nampa . where she had undergone sur sur- gery earlier in the week for injuries to her shoulder from a motorcycle accident. Lynn, Laurie and Mark Witty and Rosie Shirk attended the 4-H judging contest in Ontario Thursday. Mrs. Dyre Roberts, Mary, *e Becky, Susan, Darlene and Carlene Carroll accompanied Wayne and Rochelle Roberts to Nampa to vtalt Mrs. Florence Henderlider and Mrs. Marie Douglas Tuesday. George Elfers Sr. entered the Malheur Hospital Tuesday and passed away there Sunday eve ning. The sympathy of the com munity is extended to his widow and son Mr. and Mrs. George Elfers and family. Gordon DeGroff of Stanton, California is visiting his sis ter, Mr. and Mrs. Boyce Van DeWater. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Witty, Mr. and Ma. Ben Witty and Carl, Rosie, David and Denny Sirk called on Mr. and Mrs. Dyre Roberts last Monday eve ning to visit with Wayne and Rochelle Roberts. The Jolly JanesClubwlll have their picnic at the home of Mrs. Erie Mausling Wednesday, Au gust 8 at 1 p.m. Mr. and Mrs. Del Ziegen- beln of Ontario were Wednes day overnight guests of Mr. and Mrs. Tim Tailman. Mrs. Ted Avery and Mrs. Ora Newgen attended a potluck din ner at the Weiser Adventist Church last Saturday and later called on Mrs. Frone Stradley at the Casa Loma Convelescent Center in Payette. Mrs. Eugene Dock ter and Mrs. Boyce Van DeWater atten ded Officers Training for Ex tension groups at the Ontario Library Tuesday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. HerbGillerand family of Ulysses, Kansas came Frlctay to visit tier parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Witty and brothers Hen and Joe and tbeir families. Danny and David Shirk left Thursday evening for their home in Burns after visiting in the Ben Witty home. Mr. and Mrs. Noel Tuppeny and Mrs. Ernest Seuell visited In the Dyre Roberts home Wed nesday evening with Wayne Ro berts. Mrs. Pearle Abbott and Bobbi of Homedale, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Abbott of Roswell, M. and Mrs. Ricks Gale and fa mily, Mrs. Florence Gale of Boise and Mrs. Floyd Blamlre and boys of Burley were Sun day guests of Mr. and Mrs. C. K. Smith. Mrs. Blamlre and boys will visit in the Smith home this week. Mr. and Mrs. RayCartwright accompanied Raymond Cart wright on a vacation trip re cently. They first went toC oeur D’ Alene, Idaho where they vi sited Mr. and Mrs. Paul Cart wright and Mrs. Wilma Surplus. Then they went down the Ore gon Coast to Springfield where they visited Mr. and Mrs. Ju nior Roadman and Mrs. Josie Roadman. While there Raymond accompanied Junior Roadman on an unsuccessful salmon fish ing trip. They returned to their homes last Sunday. Wayne and Rochelle Roberts left Thursday morning fortheir home in Pekin, Illinois after vi siting here with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dyre Roberts. Mr. and Mrs. David Witty and family of Elma, Washington came Saturday to visit with the Wittys and their guests. Mr. and Mrs. Boyce Van I* Water called on Mrs. Larry Bauman in Nyssa Thursday and later called on George Elfers in the hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Varner Hop kins were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Hill in Boise Sun day. Timmy and Randy Hill returned home with them for the week. Mr. and Mrs. Tim Tallman and Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Bre wer attended a picnic at the Billy Brewer home in Kingman Kolony Sunday evening as a farewell for the Billy Brewers. Mr. and Mrs. Boyce Van De Water called on Mr. and Mrs. Carl Fogieman in Nampa Fri day. Mrs. Debbie Sigman and soo, J Jon of Emmett were guests of Mr. and Mrs. C.K. Smith Tuesday Mr. and Mrs. Dick Bennett took Laurie Bennett to Scout Camp at Lake CreekCampnear Prairie City Monday. Judy Lovitt also went to the camp with Mrs. Jim Carroll. Mrs. Tim Tall man and Mrs. Ernest Seuell called on Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Nelson in Ontario Monday afternoon. Mrs. Perle Abbott of Home dale and Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Abbott of Roswell were guests in the C.K. Smith home Monday evening. Mrs. David Krause of Nyssa and Mrs. Dyre Roberts visited Mrs. Florence Henderlider and Mrs. Marie Douglas in Nampa Saturday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Witty entertained with supper Sunday evening for their guests and the Ben and Joe Witty families. Rosie Shirk left Friday mor ning for Spokane where she will visit the Leonard Carpenter fa mily. Mr. and Mrs. George Griffin returned Friday from a week of fishing and camping at Land mark and Stanley. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Boston are enjoying a visit with their fa mily who are here now. Mr. and Mrs. Gene Boston and sons of Phoenix came Thursday and Mr. and Mrs. Don Boston and family came Friday and left Sunday leaving Toni for a lon ger visit. On Sunday the Bos tons had a family picnic din ner. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Shippy and family of Weiser and Mr. and Mrs. John Boston and family and Mr. and Mrs. George Coleman of Ontario were also there. Afternoon visitors were Mr. and Mrs. Howard Rogers of Tacoma, Mrs. Buck Langdon, sons of Seattle, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Rogers of Nampa and Mrs. Lucy Rogers of Roswell. Mrs. Robert Smalley and fa mily of Hermiston, Oregon were Saturday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Waldo Smalley. The children will visit for a week with their cousins in the Del Meeker home at Ontario. Mrs. Paul Ludlow of Bothello, Wash, and her niece of Nampa visited Sunday afternoon with Mrs. Helen Wilson. Word was received this week by friends of the death of Mrs. Oregon State University this fall will offer a new program leading to a bachelor's degree in resource recreation mana gement. The four-year program will provide preparation in three options; outdoor recreation, environmental interpretation and park administration. The curriculum will lead to the bachelor of arts or bachelor of science degree. A graduate minor in resource recreation management is also offered through OSU’s Graduate School. Some 26 courses in resource recreation were approved by the State Board of Higher Educa- tion to be offered in the cur riculum. John Poage on June 9 at New berg, Oregon. Mrs. Helen Wilson and Mrs. Lavone Fox spent Thursday- Sunday atSilverCreekand Mea dows Valley. Marilu Wilson spent the weekend visiting with Mrs. Clark Owsley at Boise. Mrs. Ruth Martin and Cathy Bale of Caldwell were luncheon guests Sunday of Mrs. Laura Bale. Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Fritts attended a family picnic at the Caldwell park Sunday in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Dale Hoyt and Karen who have finished his service assignment in Alaska and are on their way to his new one at Great Falls, Montana. Sunday evening Mr. and Mrs. Gene Boston and sons and Mr. and Mrs. John Boston and fa mily enjoyed swimming at the Weiser Hot Water Pool. On Wednesday morning, Mrs. Dwight Seward, Mrs. Sara Hob son, Mrs. Jennie Seward and Mrs. Mabel Fox attended grave side services at Dry Creek cemetery near Boise for Mrs. Constance Bumpas.
