They are Mrs. Nora Ray, 84,whohas resided in the Nyssa area since she was 12 years of age, she came here with tier parents by wagon train from Missouri, her daughter, Mrs. Dwight (Ger trude) Smith. Her son, John J. Smith, his daughter, Shir ley Jo and her son Todd Jay, two months old. Five generations on the Smith side of the family are Mrs. Ella Smith, 96, who has been a patient for the past nine years in the nursing home wing at Mal heur Memorial Hospital. She came to Nyssa in 1915 from Iowa. Her son, Dwight, came to Nyssa in 1914. Also, John J. Smith, his daughter, Shirley Jo, and her son Todd Jay. 20 YEARS AGO Harold Robert Loe, Jr., 16- month-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold lx>e, was drowned Sa turday afternoon when he fell in an irrigation ditch at the family home three and one-half miles northwest of Nyssa. According to information re ceived, it» family had just re turned from Nyssa and’tie child was left asleep in the car. It is believed the youngster awa kened to walk to the house and fell m ttu- irrigation ditch near where the car was parked e e e Ex-Nebraskans chose what turned out to be the hottest day for several years, when they had their annual Nebraska picnic Sunday at the Nyssa park. The heat was blamed for a somewhat smaller attendance than that of past years but many residents of the lower Snake River Valley gattieredfor ttie picnic dinner,entertainment and a brief business meeting. 30 YEARS AGO Mrs. J. L. Church escaped injury, with the exception of burns on the left arm, when a Jar of cherries exploded in her kitchen last week while she was .¿canning. Mr».
