White Satin Team LEE OLLISON IS SHOWN as he set a new record in the lOQ-yard dash at the Burns Invitational Saturday with a time of 10.0, breaking the record of 10.2 set in 1963. Dar Haney also set a record in the pole vault at 13-6 feet, breaking the old record of 12-6. Ollison had an outstanding day, winning the 220 yard dash with a time of 23.0. He anchored the relay teams also, with Nyssa winning the 440 yard relay with a time of 46.4, and the mile relay at 3 40.3. Team members, Ruth Chadd, Anne Tensen, Eris Bertram and Virginia Bybee drove down last Tuesday and returned Sun day evening, April 29. Mabel Fangan and her daughter Bar bara flew down from Portland to meet the team in Las Vegas, with Mabel making the fifth member of the team. The Fan gen’s were residents of Nyssa until just recently. This is the largest National Tourney ever held on record with approximately 50,000 wo men taking part. The tourney will run from the first of April into September. While there they enjoyed see ing many of the shows being pre sented. Mrs. Bertram re mained to attend some of the bowling meetings to be held this week. A new format is being attempted in an effort to estab lish the tournament as a major amateur golfing event through out Treasure Valley. Based on 150 entries $715.00 will be paid in gross prizes while $1925 will be awarded in net prizes. The tournament champion will re ceive $200 and the runner-up receives $150 in merchandise. The net champion will take $175 and the runner-up $150. There are no established flights and 30S of the field will receive merchandise prizes based on their 36 hole total score.
