Thursday, January 4, 1973 The Nyssa Gate City Journal, Nyssa, Oregon NEWS FROM BIG BEND BIG BEND - Mr. and Mrs. John Packwood entertained with a family dinner Thursday. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Perry Parrott of Ontario and their three daughters, Georgia, Judy and Ruth, all of San Fran cisco, Calif, and Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Musgrove of Marsing. Mr. and Mrs. Ben Witty,Carl and Rosie Shirk visited Mrs. Myrtle Northrup in Burns, Wed nesday. David and Danny Shirk returned home with them to spend until Saturday with Rosie and the Team children in the Carpenter home at Owyhee Dam. The Carpenters took them back to Burns Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Noel Tuppeny and Mike Decker, Mrs. Susie Miller and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Wiseman were New Years din ner guests of Mrs. persts Brumbaugh in Roswell. Mr. and Mrs. Waylan Wagner and baby of Boise called on Mr. and Mrs. Darrell English and Mr. and Mrs. Stan Thomas and Toshia Friday. K1NGMAN KOI ONY - Sun day, December 24 dinner guests in the Klaas Laan home were Mr. and Mrs Mike Ma cy, Dennis Martin, Tracy and Russell. Mrs. Martin was ill and unable to attend. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Laan and family, Parma and Mr. and Mrs. Case Visser and chil dren of Parma Mr. and Mrs. Mike Macy left Monday morning for Ba ker to have Christmas break fast with his mother, Mrs. Ras mussen. Tuesday, December 28, Mrs. Klaas |jan attended the Home Extension lesson meeting in Ontario at the Library. Mr. and Mrs. Steve Kriegh, who live on the Lester Strawn place are the proud parents of a baby daughter, Shelly Renee. She was born Christmas mor ning in the Caldwell Hospital. Her weight was seven-pounds and ten-ounces. Mr. and Mrs. Klaas Laan left November 6 on a trip to Holland to see her father, Mr. Peetoom and his mother, Mrs. Laan The highlight event of their trip was the celebration of her father, Mr. Peetoom’s 85th birthday, For which all children and grandchildren were invited-27 relatives were present. On December 5, they cele brated the roming "f St. Ni cholas at the home of her sis ter, Mrs. Otter. They visited other relatives and old friends. The weather was nice while they were there. They left Am sterdam on December 15 by plane and were home the same night. Christmas dinner guests in the Earl Campbell home wen* Mr. and Mrs. Lester Camp- Mr. and Mrs. Dallas Chaney and family, Mrs. Shirley Jen sen and children, and Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Chaney and fa mily were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. HoraceChaney and family. They all stayed to watch 1973 arrive. Mr. and Mrs. Dick Davis and Steve and Mr. and Mrs. James McGinnis returned home Wed- newday from Joseph, Oregon where they had spent Christ mas with Mr. and Mrs. James McGinnis, Jr. and family. Mr. and Mrs. Phil Kent and children of Lind, Washington spent the Christmas weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Phil Clucas and family and Mr. and Mrs. Rollo Kent in Nyssa. Mr. and Mrs. Water visited Dick Reed and Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Bud Prosser of Pilot Rock came Tuesday to see Mrs. Edythe Prosser and her guests Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Bell. bell, Big Bend, Mr. and Mrs. Danny Cutler and Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Campbell. Mr. and Mrs. Ronnie Mc Cain and family of Payette were evening visitors. Christmas dinner guests in the Wayne Robb home were Mrs. May Lytle, Roswell. Thursday afternoon callers in the Al Thompson home were Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Davis of Long Beach, California, Mr. and Mrs. Otis Bullard and Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Long, both of Nyssa. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Gehrke were Christmas dinner guests of their daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Rhodes and family, Mr. and Mrs. Rolla Rhodes and family of Roswell were after noon callers. Mr. and Mrs. L. J. Majors of Buhl and Mrs. Mary Liona of Ontario visited in the J. R. Osborn home Thursday after noon. Mr. and Mrs. Dwayne Bennett and family were Sunday after noon guests of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Bennett in Big Bend. Mr. and Mrs. Dwayne Ben nett and family wereChristmas dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Jones and family in On tario. Larry Kreager and children flew tert fron Salt Lake City to visit his mother, Mrs. Lau rence Kreager. They were all Christmas dinner guests in the Wesley Jones home in Ontario. Mr. and Mrs. Boyce Van De Water called on Mrs. Larry Bauman and family in Nyssa Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Dockter and family and Steve Bishop at tended the Basketball Tourna ment in Joseph Friday and Sa turday. Mr. and Mrs. Almon Lehman of Newberg, Oregon were lun cheon guests of their niece, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Witty and family Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Chaney and family left Monday morning for their home in Post Falls, Idaho after spending the holidays with Mr. and Mrs. Horace Chaney and family. Christmas day callers in the Ed Nedrow home were Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Godin and family of Nyssa. Gene Godin was an overnight guest of Jimmie Nedrow. Evening guests were Ethel I jy, Frances Kratsburgh, and Edith Heiser. Wednesday, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Nedrow and Jimmie went to Unity and visited Mi and Mrs. Harry Buker. The roads were good going to Unity, but they were in a snow storm coming home. Mr. and Mrs. Stan Thomas and Toshia, Mr. and Mrs. Dar rell English called on Mr. and Mr Marion English, Mr. and Mrs. Don Boren and Mrs. Dora English in Nampa Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Cuck Barker left Monday morning for their home in Grants Pass after spending the holidays with Mr. and Mrs. Verl Bishop and Steve. Mr. and Mrs. Ross English and Jay left Sunday morning for their home in Klamath Falls after spending the holidays with Mr. and Mrs. Darrell English. Mr. and Mrs. Don Hamilton and family visited Mr. and Mrs. Dick Bennett and family Monday evening. Mrs. Hamilton and Tina and Lauri Bennett called on Mr. and Mrs. Dyre Roberts, also. The Nyssa Senior Citizens will meet January 10 at the home of Mrs. Jesse Shuster at 10 30 a m. Bring a sack lunch, coffee will be furnished. All members please be pre sent as this will be the elec tion of officers for this year at the meeting.
