Thursday, July 13, 1972 Engagement Announced Th« Nyssa Gat« City Journal, Nyssa, Oregon PONY GIVEN AT NAMPA STAMPEDE Some youngster, under 12 years of age, will be the re- ceipient of a Welsh pony, com plete with all the riding gear on the opening night of the 57th Annual Snake River Stam pede in Nampa, according to Bob Brown, chairman of the event. “Three Nampa firms have made it possible. Rayne and Seal Enterprises, Super Thrift Drug and M & W Market. These firms are providing not only the saddle, bridle and blanket, but a beautiful Welsh pony that is trained for any child to ride,” according to Brown. He said, “The tickets for the drawing will be given to each child at the gate, and will be drawn at the proper time in the show by Stampede Star Roger Miller. The pony give away is a traditional prize for some lucky youngster under 12 attending the first night of the Mr. and Mrs. Robert D. Haney of Nyssa announce the engage ment and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Debra Ann, to Gary Mathewson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Darwin G. Mathew son of Ontario. Debbie graduated from Nyssa High School in 1971 and was employed at Boardman, Oregon for some time. Gary graduated from Ontario High School in 1968 and served a two year mission for the L.D.S. Church in Florida and Puerto Rico. He is con tinuing his education at Brigham Young University, majoring In dentistry. Gary is working this sum<?<*r for the Oregon State Highway Department. An August 24th wedding is being planned in the Idaho Falls L.D.S. Temple. The family home was built in the early 1900’s by the bride’s grandparents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank A. Miller, and is presently occupied by Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Brewer. Adding to the home decor were large baskets of pink and white gladioli, The double ring ceremony was performed at 3 p.m. by the Rev. John An derson of the Assembly of God Church, Wilder, before 150 re latives and close friends. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a street length sleeveless dress of pink and white crepe and carried a bouquet of long stemmed pink gladioli. The bride asked Miss Vikki Shenk to serve as honor at- Jenkins—Mendiola Wed Friday and Saturday in the church basement from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. New articles turned in each week. * * • tendhnt. She wore a blue street length dress and her corsage was pink and white carnations. Serving the groom as best man was Joel Price. Following the ceremony a reception was held in the home. The white wedding cake was top ped with fresh-cut daisies of pink and white. Cutting and serving cake were Mrs. Jerry Brewer. Miss Joann Timmer man, sister of the bride, ser ved punch. In charge of gifts was Miss Nancy Timmerman, sister of the bride, Mr. Dirk Miller, and Miss Libby Mil ler, cousins of the bride. After the reception, the new Mr. and Mrs. Joki left for a honeymoon trip to Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho. The bride is a 1972 graduate of Adrian High School. The bridegroom attended Northern Idaho College and was gradua ted from the Universityof Idaho. Out of town guests were the bridegroom’s mother Mrs. Alex Joki and his brother and his brother and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Joki. Glenda Kay Jenkins and Dennis Paul Mendiola were married May 27, 1972 at the First Christian Church in Ontario. Parents are Mr. and Mrs. Albert Jenkins of Weiser and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Mendiola of Ontario. The couple are making their home in Ontario. Couple Wed at Nursing Home BLADE CUT ROUND BONE BONELESS ROAST STEW MEAT • 89 LARGE JUICY CRISP, GREEN PEACHES On Sunday afternoon, July 9, 1972, Minnie Tyrell and John Umbarger were united in mar riage at Malheur Memorial Nursing Home in Nyssa. The couple exchanged their vows in front of the large fireplace in the social room of the home. Officiating at the 2 p.m. cere mony was the Rev. Lloyd Pounds of the Seventh Day Christians, in the presence of 50 guests. The bride wore a floor-length gown of pastel blue crepe, fea turing a ruffle at the neckline and full sheer sleeves gathered into cuffs. She carried a dainty nosegay of pink carnations and white mums. Attending as maid of honor was Alice Fogg of Ontario. She was attired in a pastel yellow Crystallite gown of floor-length, White daisies bordered the scoop neckline and accented the long full sleeves. She carried a nosegay of yellow carnations and white mums. The bridegroom was attended by Dean Holmes of Ontario. Mrs. Ruth Klinkenberg pro vided the wedding music and also sang “I Love You Truly,” accompanied by Crystal Mar cum. The social room was attrac tively decorated with bouquets of flowers. The reception table was centered with a white wed ding cake decorated with blue roses and the names Minnie and John. A lovely bouquet of yellow and white summer flo wers graced the table. These were arranged by Mrs. Gerrit Stam. Mrs. Nora Graham and Mrs. Stam both of the Hospital Auxi liary, were in charge of the reception. The newly married couple was wished much happiness by those attending.
