Mr. and Mrs. Glen Palmer and Karen of Parma were Thursday evening dinner guests of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dick Kriegh. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Carter of Newburg, Oregon arrived Saturday to visit Mr. and Mrs, R.D. McKinely. Mrs. Irvin Topliff attended the wedding of Marion Pitkin and Ronald Warren Saturday evening at the Nazerene Church in Meridian. The groom is a cousin of Mrs. Topliff’s. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Webb ac companied Mr. and Mrs. Bob Webb to Unity last week. They stayed at the Wetmore Forest camp on Dixie Mountain and spent one night in camp. They met the George Cartwrights there and took them fishing in their boat. Mr. and Mrs. Mike Hastriter Eric and Larkie of Utah came Friday. Mike spent one night and went on to Bremer ton, Wash., and is now work ing in physical therapy at the Naval Hospital. He will be back in two weeks, he will be in charge of identifying the African flea that is in this country. Mr. and Mrs. Russell Coff man and Ronnie Neel of Mil waukie, Oregon came Saturday to attend the birthday party for Pauline Hastriter at the William Webb home. Others attending the party were Mrs. Margarete Payne, Mr. and Mrs. Ted King of Ontario, and their daughter Ann Welty and Theadora of Med ford and Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Newman of Homedale. Mr. and Mrs.ClintChamber- lain and Paul Butler of Ontario were Wednesday evening dinner guests of Mr and Mrs. Leon Chamberlain. Mike Pratt of Portland spent the weekend with his parents, Mr, and Mrs. Eugene Pratt. Joe Beach and children of St. Charles, Missouri came Monday evening to visit his mother-in-law, Mrs. Carl Fenn and other relatives. Sunday afternoon and evening visitors of Mrs. Carl Fenn were Mrs. Dave Savage and girls, Mrs. Wesley Walker, Mrs. Gene Simpson and Mrs. Alfred Simpson. Friday dinner guests in the Alfred Simpson home were Mr. and Mrs. Benny Beach and Bobby Carol, Tony Justus, and Joe Beach and girls of St. Charles, Mo. Mrs. Marie Moore was a luncheon guest of the K.I. Pe tersons in Adrian Memorial Day. Mrs. John Fahrenbruch and BASEBALL TEAM Mrs. Dale Witt visited Mrs. Carl Begeman Tuesday after noon. Roland Stringham of Boun tiful, Utah and his granddaugh ter, CherryleeChamberlain ar rived Tuesday. Cherrylee has been attending BYU and will be home for the summer with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leon Chamberlain. Mrs. Chamber- lain accompanied her father, Stringham to his home Thurs day, where she will visit re latives and return home Sunday by bus. Mrs. Lura Phillips, Anaheim California came be plane to Boise Wednesday afternoon, and was met by Mr. and Mrs. W.C. Van Dewater and son Kent. She will spend some time here vi siting her cousins, Mrs. Van Dewater and Mrs. Dale Witt. Mr. and Mrs. Don Linville, who were former owners of a store at Owyhee Corner shave moved into the former Blanch home owned by the Louis Stams. Mrs. Mabie Piercy took Mrs. Marie Moore to lunch in Cald well and they visited the Rev. and Mrs. Elmer Rosenkilde in Nampa in the afternoon. Jed Chamberlain and Bobby Feukes were Sunday afternoon visitors of Mrs. Dale Witt. Mrs. Dale Witt was a Sun day dinnner guest of Mr. and Mrs. W.C. Van Dewater and son Kent in Big Bend. She was accompanied home by her cou sin, Mrs. Lura Phillips ofCali- fornia who will spend several days visiting in the Witt home. Sunday afternoon callers at the Alfred Simpson home were Selma and Alene Simpson and Shelia Packard all of Ontario. Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Marion York took her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Simpson to dinner in Ontario to celebrate the Simpson’s wedding anniversary. Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Simp son attended the Cutler-Camp bell wedding at the Presbyterian Church Sunday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Elmore and baby of Kansas City were Monday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Simpson. Mon day evening Mr. and Mrs. Al fred Simpson and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Simpson called on Johnnie Easton at the veterans’ hospital in Boise. He had surgery last week and is doing fine. Players from Ontario and Nyssa forming Ontario’s American Legion baseball team opened play with a doubleheader against Burns Sunday at Ontario. Assistant coach Jerry Gray listed the following players and positions for Ontario: Cat chers-Don Lewis and Ron Mof- fis, first basemen-Tim Flynn and Rob Hickey, secondbase- men-Doug Whittet and Tim Flynn, shortstops-Bruce Tsu- kamaki and Greg Perdue, third base-Larry Jenson, outfiel- ders-Gordy Ogawas, Mick Saito Skip Bennett, Rob Hamel, and Dwight Calhoun. Pitchers are Bennett, Feik, Ogawas, Flynn, Hamel and Calhoun. Three Ontario players are returning from last year’s squad-Bennett, Saito, and Tsu- ':amaki. Nyssa has Moffis, Pur due and Feik, all of whom started last year for the Nyssa legions squad. Nyssa Loses To Vale, 5-1 Neil Oldemeyer knocked in Joe Joyce with the winning run in the seventh inning here Tues day, May 30 as the Nyssa #1 Babe Ruth nine nipped Adrian in a 5 to 4 contest. Ted Joyce started on the mound for Nyssa and was re lieved in the third by Bill Mar cum, who was credited with the victory. Marcum chalked up 5 strike-outs during his mound stint. Nyssa belted out 6 hits in the game while Adrian was held to 4. Adrian led early by a 4 to 8 edge but the Nyssa team pushed across a pair of runs in the fourth on a hit by Danny Si- mantel and a pair of runs in the fifth on a hit by Brad Hol comb. Then pulled out the win ning run in the final inning on a hit by Neil Oldemeyer. Pete Leseberg also got a hit to aid the Nyssa team. Girl Scout Camp Vale scored a 5-1 win over Nyssa #1 at Vale Friday night. Both clubs garnered 6 hits each. Nyssa’s lone run came in the third with Marcum draw ing a base on balls followed by Holcomb with a hit then Ted Joyce got one base by an error and Marcum scored on the error. Those receiving one hit each for Nyssa were Oldemeyer, Marcum, Holcomb, Joyce, Cal houn and Garner. Brad Holcomb started on the mound for NyssawithTedJoyce relieving in the 6th. ALIENS ARRESTED Oregon State Police officers arrested two ‘illegally-entered’ aliens at the Adrian LaborCamp over the Memorial Day week end. The pair was held in custody at the Malheur County jail until officials of the U.S. Immigration service could ar rive to transport them to Mex ico where they are citizens. Three Nyssa Beats Adrian, 5-4 Successful This Year Thirty-five Girl Scouts en joyed a day camp May 31, June 1, 2, and 3. The camp started each day at 10 a.m. and ended at 3 p.m. at St. Bridget’s Ca tholic Church. Among the highlights of the day camp was an overnight campout Friday night, with the camp ending Saturday noon. One of the activities which the girls participated in was burying beans in a pit Friday and then eating them Saturday. Teaching the girls how to made sand candles was Mrs. Frances Focht of Nyssa. Mrs. Marie Wilson also of Nyssa helped them make homemade ice cream. Other activities included arts and crafts, hi king and outdoor cooking. Along with Mrs. Bill Wah- lert, neighborhood director and Mrs. Sue Rose, day camp di rectors also helping with the camp were Mmes. Margery. Jackson, Margaret Tensen, Donna Webb, Marie Teague, Donna Hutchinson, Mossie Saito, Barbara Sarazin, Stella Ross and Marlene Michael. Princess Title These girls are seeking the title of Mal heur County Dairy Princess, presently held by Trina Blackburn, Vale. They are, from left, Terrilynn Chamber- lain, Adrian; Jenny Kennington, Ontario; and Leona Musgrove, Vale. The three contestants are making public appearances on behalf of the dairy industry throughout the county, and one of them will be selected dairy princess at the public banquet June 23 at the East Side Cafe.
