Thursday, March 23, 1972 The Nyssa Gate City Journal, Nyssa, Oregon SUNSET VALLEY ACTIVITIES ------ BY MARTHA LORENSEN SUNSET VALLEY - On March .19, a number of classmates _ gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dan Nelson in Ontario to surprise Dan Chapin on his 17th birthday. Games were played and Mrs. CharlesChapin, Dan’s mother served the traditional birthday cake with ice cream and punch. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Loren- , sen, Harriet and Gloria were among those who attended the PTA meeting at the Adrian School Thursday evening. Mr. i Phelps the sixth grade teacher and some of his students pre sented a play, “The Shock of His Life’’ which was most en tertaining, and displayed some of the talent present in the school. Mr. Phelps does this I every year and patrons of the I school are always numerous in I their attendance. | Rev. and Mrs. Robert Manley I sons, Ron and David, Mr. and I Mrs. Rolo Kent, Mrs. E.J. Hob- j son, Jimmy Langley and friend, I Terry Gulley were dinner I guests Sunday at the Jim I Langley, Sr. home. I Dr. Rex Langley of Caldwell I was a Sunday night guest at I the home of his parents, the Jim I Langleys. I Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Price I were visitors Saturday evening I at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ira I Price. I Roberta Asumendi and Gabie I Hatch are spending a few days I visiting their grandparents, Mr. I and Mrs. Gabriel Astoreca. I Mrs. Charles Glenn provided I refreshments for the Nyssa se- 1 cond grade Tuesday afternoon I in honor of the birthday of her I son Steve, who was seven years I old. Steven was honored at his I home that evening with a party I when again refreshments were I served to guests, among whom I were Mrs. Larry Culbertson I and children, Mr. and Mrs. I Chuck Share, Mrs. Lois Glenn I and Tanya Simpson. I Mr. and Mrs. Jack Wood and I Adah Louise went to Boise Sat- I urday where they met his sister, I Mr. and Mrs. Don Tippits of I Thermopolis, Wyoming, and the I Tippits’ daughter, Mr. and Mrs. I ■ Don Lockhart, of Klickitat, I Wash. They all had dinner at I the King’s Table and spent their I time visiting that evening. The I Tippits are enroute to their I home after spending two and a I half years in Afganistan, where I they were on an Advisory As- I signment in connection with the I Agriculture Department. I Mr. and Mrs. Ira Price were I visitors Sunday afternoon at the I home of Mr. and Mrs. Orville I Groves in Parma. I ! The Home Extension Club I tnet at the home of Mr. and I Mrs. Keije Okano with Mrs. I Maus Atagi as co-hostess Fri- I day afternoon. The lesson on I ¡•Wigs’’ was given by Mrs. I Elver Nielsen and Mrs. Dick I Young. Officers were elected, I they are: Mrs. James Stephen, I President, Mrs. Ira Price, vice- I - PHONE 372 president; and Mrs. Gary Niel sen, secretary-treasurer. There were 14 members and two guests present. Jimmy Langlev and a friend Terry Gulley of Burley, stu dents of NNC at Nampa are spending spring vacation at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Langley, Sr. Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Refett and family of Dufur, Oregon were weekend guests at the home of Mrs. John Reffett. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Wilson and family of Ontario, Mr. and I Mrs. Darrell Wilson and family of Corvallis, Mr. and Mrs. Merle Vanderwall, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Wilson and family of Ros well, were dinner guests Sun day at the home of Mr. and ! Mrs. Harley Wilson. Mrs. Mel Wilson was honored, it was her birthday anniversary. I Mr. and Mrs. Bob Chard and son Clint of Boise were Satur day evening visitors at the home t of Mr. and Mrs. Elver Nielsen. Mrs. Jim Langley, and Mrs. Elver Nielsen attended a de corators party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Stubstad in Ontario Thursday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Elver Nielsen Mr. and Mrs. Homer Whit man and Dick were visitors Sunday afternoon at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Elver Nielsen. Mr. and Mrs. Emerson Bin gaman of Fruitland were dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Elver Nielsen Sunday eve ning. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Mitchell were dinner guests at the home of Mrs. Myrtle Hillis Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. LarryCulbert- son and family were dinner guests Friday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Mark Morton. Ap- poximately 630 grownups were served plus children and a total of $1,146.75 was taken in on the smorgasbord. Those winning in the ticket selling contest were Marva Marie Case, first prize; Clara Fujikawa, second; Gay Bennett, third. The money will be used to finish paying for the video tape equipment and the rest will be decided as to its use later.
