The idea is Io create a new government bureau to be called a (xinsumer Protection Agency. One of its chief duties would be to publicize and promote legal action with regard to all the faults in products and services corn* milled by companies, including management and all of the persons employed in lhe plants, stores and other workshops of the nation. For example, the new agen<*y would receive all customer complaints and put them on public display. It would be empowered Io demand private company data and lhe tiles of other federal agencies to obtain complaints for public display. Ileporls would be written, press releases issued, federal actions started, private lawsuits encouraged —all to get nalionwide publicity critical of companies, their products, ami their operations. What could companies look forward to? Lost confi dence, lost customers, lost sales, and lost respect in their communities and industries.
