Nyssa is on a mesa,
the lowest in the State.
The sun is always shining,
And the rivers never late.
You can catch the mountain
trout,
And eat them as you will.
But you have to have a bigger
line,
To hold the sturgeon still.
George Moore (101 year old
man about town) started this
little poem and would like any
student from the elementary
schools to finish the poem with
another verse. He is offering
a prize of $10 in cash to the
winner.
Any grade school students
from this area is eligible. The
deadline for entries will be
October 31, 1971. Bring, send
or mail your entry
to the
Gate City Journal office.
A
retired teacher and her com
mittee will be the judges of the
contest.
We will publish the winner’s
name and his ending to the poem
in the paper as soon as the jud
ges decide the winner.
