She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Fangen. DANA BRATTON Dana has received a scholar ship from the Psychology De partment at the U of O. His parents are Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Bratton. Piano Students Fla ve Auditions Sr. Citizens Make Sale Announcement There will be 120 students from surrounding towns com peting in the National Piano Auditions, beginning Tuesday. June 1,. through Saturday, June 5th. Professor James L. Dun can, head of the music depart ment of the University of South ern Colorado at Pueblo, Colo rado, will judge these students in the auditorium at the Ontario High School. The participants will each play a program of memorized pieces and be judged on the fine points of piano technic. After Professor Duncan finishes in Ontario he will spend two weeks in Boise judging au ditions there. Alice Nishitani’s students who will play are Lori Lewis, Car men and Audrey Astoreca, Mon ica Quinowski, Jill and Megan Jackson, Paula Saito, Leah Con don, Gail and Dena Hirai, Shar- lene Kido, Jeanine and Lori Saito, Jan Saito, Libby Miller, Miriam and Kathy Kunkel and Sally Looney. Mrs. Jane Bal lou’s students are Beth Calhoun and Joy Ballou. Members of the Nyssa Senior Citizens announce a rummage sale being planned for the near future with a definite date to be announced later. Citizens of the committee in charge would like to remind people of the sale and anyone who has furniture, pictures, clothing, dishes or any mis cellaneous items to give to the group for the sale need only to call and have it picked up. Date of the sale and pick-up service will be announced after the next meeting of the Senior Citizens of Nyssa. 1^. kA \\ VÙT.T V 1 L 1 MAR DI TENSEN Mardi Tensen, who plans to further her education at Oregon State University this next fall, is a recipient of a scholarship given by the local All-American Club here in Nyssa. Her par ents are Mr. and Mrs. Dick Tensen. ^Cllll NEWS BIG BEND BUCKAROO6 The Big Bend Buckaroos met May 26 at Adrian school. Min utes were read by Donna Walk er. Entry blanks for the Pee Wee Rodeo were passed out. The Big Bend Buckaroos will have a food booth at the 4-H spring show which will be June 5. Donna White, reporter * * * Legal Secretaries BIG BEND BUCKAROOS To Install Officers Several members of the Big Bend Buckaroos attended the Pee Wee Rodeo at Nyssa. Those riding bucking ponies were Hal White, Betty Wenke, and Randy Walker. Calf riders were Hal White, Betty Wenke, Randy Walker, and Danny Walker. Pole benders and barrel racers were Donna White, Hal White, and Betty Wenke. In goat tying were Randy Walker, Betty Wenke, Hal White and Donna White. The kids had a good time and lots of experience along with a few bumps and bruises. They all hope to be back at the Rodeo next year. The May meeting of the Mal heur County Legal Secretaries Association was held May 27, at the home of Billie Willis in Ontario. Plans for the Installation of Officers on June 12 were an nounced. The Installation will be held at the Palomino Cafe in Ontario. Darlena Hargett of LaGrande who was recently selected Legal Secretary of the Year by the Oregon Association of Legal Secretaries has con sented to be installing officer. The next regular meeting will be June 24 at the Twilight Cafe in Nyssa. ■ ''/ivi ROBERT EDMONDSON Robert, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Edmondson, was awar ded a Tau Alpha Pi Scholar ship to Boise State College. RON S AR AZ IN Ron is the winner of the scholarship given annually by the Nyssa Jaycees. He is also recognized by the Dad’s Club at Oregon State University with a certificate of Excellence. Ron plans to study at OSU in the fall. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Norbert Sarazin. It is not known yet who won any awards in the events at the rodeo. They will be noti fied by mail.
