Th« Nyssa Gat« City Journal, Nyssa, Oregon January 14, 1971 EVENTS AROUND ADRIAN - GLADYS THOMAS ADRIAN-Mr. and Mrs. Robert ; Long spent Saturday night and Sunday in Emmett at the home of her sister, Mr. and Mrs. James Raynor. A reunion was held there on Sunday in honor of Mr. and Mrs. James Coon and daughter, Betty Obendorf from Anchorage, Alaska. Mrs. Bill Looney and Mary also at tended. It was the first time in four years the five sisters had been together. Mr. and Mrs. H.I. Rush of Nampa and Mr. and Mrs.Ches ter Stanton of Payette were Sun day visitors in theN.C. Thomas home. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Collord and Fred Parma were evening visitors. Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Dennis and boys were Sunday visitors in the James McGinnis home. Mrs. K.I. Peterson and Mrs. Grace Day attended the Gar den Club Tuesday at the home of Mrs. Boyce Van De Water. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Thomas and Kelly of Livermore, Caiif., came Thursday to spend a few days with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. N.C. Thomas. Mrs. Edna Cowling had lunch Sunday with Mrs. Grace Day. Mrs. Marie Moore was a Sa turday luncheon guest of Mr. and Mrs. K.I. Peterson. Stanley Byers of Ontario was a Saturday afternoon visitor in the N.C. Thomas home. Mr. and Mrs. George Cart wright visited Sunday with her mother, Mrs. Alma Hibbard in Caldwell. Mrs. Mabel Piercy and Mrs. Bernice Toomb visited Mr. and Mrs. K. I. Peterson Sunday afternoon. Nonie Hopper of Ontario spent Tuesday night in the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dave Matthews, Jr. Ed McGlennon and a friend from Bend were Saturday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. G.E. Mackey. Rex Franklin called his pa rents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Franklin, Saturday night from San Diego. He had completed his first week of school. Mr. and Mrs. Wes Walker, Sr., were Sunday night supper guests at the home of their daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Gayle Martin. Mr. and Mrs. Dave Matthews, — —» Jr. visited Sunday with her brother, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Case of Wilder. Mrs. W.E. Ashcraft, Mabel Piercy, Rose Willis and Edna DeHaven attended the Happy Dozen Card Club Friday after noon at the home of Mrs. Do rothy Fox. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Long were Friday evening visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Burton Barnes. Mr. and Mrs. F.E. Deffer left December 17 for Fort Hood, Texas, where they visited their daughter, Mrs. D.E. Grannis and children. They then went to Lexington, Neb., where they visited his sisters, Mr. and Mrs. D.G. McDonald and Mr. and Mrs. K.C. Dietman. They returned home January 7. Mrs. Ross Lane and Sandra visited Sunday afternoon with Mr. and Mrs. Roger Watts in their new home in Ontario. Mrs. Carolyn Skerjanic and boys of Vale are spending the week with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George DeHaven while Skerjanic is attending National Guard in Boise. Mr. and Mrs. Andy Bedegi of Nampa were Saturday eve ning supper guests of her pa rents, Mr. and Mrs. Vern Par ker. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Mosier from The Dalles were week end visitors in the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George DeHaven. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Lovittand family from Payette were Sa turday evening visitors of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. G.E. Mackey and Gene. Mr. and Mrs. H.W. Thomas of Weiser were Monday after noon visitors in the home of Mr. and Mrs. George DeHaven. Mr. and Mrs. E.M. Mackey were Thursday overnight visi tors with her sister, Mrs. han- nah Gage of Boise. The Rev. and Mrs. Banks of Parma were Monday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. George De Haven. Mr. and Mrs. E.M. Mackey visited Sunday with her cousin, Mr. and Mrs. Cash Turner in Star. . Kelly Thomas of Livermore, Calif., and Bill Lane spent Sun day skiing at Bogus Basin. The Eugene Pratt family went bowling in Nyssa Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. M.L. Judd re turned Wednesday after a visit of over three weeks with their daughter, Mr. and Mrs. John Downer andfamilyof Taft,Calif. Mr. and Mrs. John Eason of Homedale were Friday over night guests of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Simpson. Saturday they all went to Boise to attend a sale. Thursday Mrs. Ray Simpson took care of Mrs. Karen Yorks baby while she went to Boise. Mrs. Carl Fenn visited Mr. and Mrs. Gene Simpson and family Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. W.C. Van De Water and son, Kent of Big Bend called on Mrs. Dale Witt Friday afternoon. Mrs. Edith Fenn and Mrs. Ida Fenn went to Homedale Sunday and visited Elsmore Fenn and his house guests, John and Boyd Percy of Salem. On their return they visited Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Simpson and family. John and Boyd Percy of Salem were Friday afternooncallers at the Edith Fenn home. Mrs. Gene Simpson, Mrs. Carl Fenn and Karen York and baby visited Mrs. Edith Fenn Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Chuck Brady of Ontario were Thursday eve ning guests at a birthday an niversary dinner at the home McCALL JUDGE JOINS BSC STAFF Stanton D. Tate, McCall, will become a Student Personnel counselor at BoiseStateCollege starting January 15. The an nouncement was made by Dr. William Hendry, Dean of Stu dent Personnel Services. Tate is currently Probate Judge at McCall. Tate will be working at Boise State College in association with Dr. Hendry with respect to recommending student judi ciary procedures, developing a resident advisor training program and as a representa tive of the College to the cam pus ministry. Tate has a B.A. degree in Philosophy/Psychology from the University of Idaho and a B.S. degree in Pastoral .Psy chology in Pastoral Psychology from Princeton Seminary. His thesis for his B.S. was "Sup portive Psychology in Christ’s Parables.” He has published an article the "Parachute Priest” in the ‘‘Episcopalian’’ in 1965. Cafeteria, 8 p.m. 71 GOLDEN EAGLE PASSPORT RETURNS The 1971 Golden Eagle Pass port, an annual permit for use at public outdoor recreation areas operated by the National Park Service, Bureau of Sport Fisheries and Wildlife, Bureau of Land Management, and U.S. Forest Service, is now on sale at field offices of participating Federal agencies. The 1971 Passport is valid from January 1, 1971 through December 31, 1971 at a cost of $10. As in previous years, all revenue fr om the annual permit is de posited in the Land and Water Conservation Fund, and admin istered by the Bureau of Out door Recreation. Pag« Thr«« Crossbred Livestock Topic Of Meeting The science of crossbreeding livestock will be the topic of a discussion led by Dr. Ralph Bogart, geneticist from Oregon State University, January 21, 1971 from 1:00 - 3:30 p.m. at the lounge in the TVCC Admini stration Building, according to George Bain, Malheur County Extension Agent. Bogart will cover the im portance of planning your cross breeding program, use of cross bred heifers as replacements, and heritability of various characteristics, Bains says. The meeting is open to all interested livestock producers. Many producers now doing some crossbreeding in their cattle are asking themselves "Where do I go from here?” Bain feels confident Dr. Bogart can help answer their questions.
