On Saturday, Dr. and Mrs. Danford, Dave, Mr. and Mrs. Gary Ward and Mark Stringer went to Boise where they had dinner and visited Mr. and Mrs. Jim Danford of Idaho Falls. The Jim Danfords were in Boise to attend the Crawford Company Christmas party. ♦ » » Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Cronin and two boys of Drewsey, visited Friday afternoon to bring Christmas gifts to their friend, Mrs. Elizabeth Shaughnessy. * * * Mrs. Orma Cleaver enter tained Mrs. Mildred Fstrick and Chester Chapman of Meri dian and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Zinn at Friday dinner. Later that evening Mr. and Mrs. Alva Goodell and boys called at Mrs. Cleaver’s home to visit. ♦ ♦ ♦ Mr. and Mrs. Bill (Virginia) Mannewitz and three daughters of Dallas, Texas; Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Lewis and two child ren of Sacramento, Mr. and Mrs. Dick Lewis and two sons of San Jose, Mr. and Mrs. Kai (Marilyn) Farr and two sons of Provo, and Craig Lewis a stu dent of Ricks College in Rex burg, are visiting at the home of their sister, Mr. and Mrs. Don Bowers and family and their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Mitchell family. This year, Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell will have all of their children with them for Christmas. ♦ * * Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Stephens of Sumpter arrived Tuesday to spend the holiday vacation vi siting their daughter and son, Loretta Day and the Glenn Step hens family in Fruitland. ♦ * ♦ Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Holman and family of Albany are visi ting relatives and friends in Nyssa and Ontario during the Christmas holiday. X Guests Attend FHA Dinner IT’S MERRY CHRISTMASTIME! In the usual well organized way of the Nyssa High School FHA members, under the super- vison of their Adviser, Mrs. Virginia Steffens, approxima tely 70 Future Homemakers of the present, and the past, with their mothers and honored guests met at the school cafe teria for the annual Christmas dinner. Due to the unique and at- tractive centerpieces, the lighted candlelabras and the Christmas favors and table covers, the cafeteria was con verted to a rather personal room for dining in which the guests felt the true meaning of Christmas. Merry ' Christmas wreath surrounds our best wishes for your happiness. I Lyle Miner’s Barber Shop Guests were served punch and fruitcake squares from the re ception table and enjoyed visi ting for a short time before being seated at the tables for the program and dinner. Becky Blaylock, president, welcomed the group and intro duced honored guests. She then had each girl introduce her mother to the group. Patricia Wahlert lead the invocation song and dinner was served from a buffet table laden with not only delicious food, but food attrac tively prepared and served. After the dinner, aw ards were presented to girls who had sold the most magazines in the FHA Magazine Selling contest. Jea- nine Saito was presented a $2 u bonus for selling the most. The girls presented Mrs. Steffens a gift and also presented Mrs. Larry Saito a gift in apprecia tion of the help she has always given the FHA. Many other gifts of canned foods, jellies, and fruitcakes were given. These gifts had all been prepared by the class during the school year. Patricia again led the group in carol singing and Christ mas songs. Guest speaker Mrs. LeRoy (Coralee) Huff told the group about Christmas in England, their traditions andfoods,com pared toChristmas in the United States. Mrs. Huff came to the United States by herself when she was 18 years old and lived with a family who were friends of her parents. Her husband is the County Sanitarian and she has a two and one-half year old daughter, Anjanet. After Mrs. Huff’s interesting talk, FHA President wished all a Merry Christmas and thanked all for coming to make the din ner such a success. $Joy to the world, it is the season of Christ’s birth, rich in love and peace.
