Thursday, September 10, 1970 64th Wedding Anniversary The Nyssa Gate City Journal, Nyssa, Oregon THREE INJURED NU ACRES HAPPENINGS IN CAR CRASH Three people were hospitali zed Saturday Sept. 5, following a two car collision on highway 20-26 N. of Nyssa. Taken to Malheur Memorial Hospital and listed in good con- diton with multiple bruises, is Mrs. A.C. Sallee of Nyssa, driver of one of the cars. Passengers in the other car were Mr. and Mrs. Mike Mi randa, Mike, Jr. and David of Portland. Mrs. Miranda and Mike, Jr. are listed in satis factory conditon at Malheur Me morial Hospital. Mike Miranda, Sr. and David were treated and released. BY MARGARET EVANS NU ACRES- The Nu Acres Grange met at the hall for a potluck supper and regular meeting Thursday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Abshire and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Grogan of New Plymouth also attended. Each person answered to roll call telling where he went to school and something about his school and teachers. It proved very interesting and enjoyable, It was announced that the Payette-Washington Pomona Grange will meet at Haas Grange Hall Thursday, September 10, PHONE 674-2074 -- ------ for their regular meeting and election of officers. The community was saddened by the death of Joe Simmons, a resident of Nu Acres for se veral years. Many neighbors attended the funeral at New Plymouth on Friday morning. Much sympathy goes to Mrs. Simmons and her family, Steve Sherich took a load of sheep to Boise Monday eve- ning to enter in the FFA Divi- sion of the Western Idaho State Fair. He took many prizes at the Payette County Fair. Page Five Mr. and Mrs. Buel Clement returned Sunday from a trip to California to visit her brother and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Durbin, and also sight seeing to Crater Lake in Ore gon. Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Evans called on the Clements Monday evening and found Buel to be much improved from his recent round with his Holstein bull. Mr. and Mrs. Mike Howell and C ristin of Moscow have been visiting at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Buel Clement this week. Mr. and Mrs. Gary Troyer and Tracy of Richland, Wash inton, spent the Labor Day week end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sherman Keck. Samba Group Meets Mrs. Gordan Oxnam was hos tess Sept. 4 for members of Samba Club. Mrs. Ida Miner was guest player, Mrs. Virginia Brandt won high honors with Mrs. Ann Tensen taking second high.______________________ Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Evins went to Vale Tuesday evening to help their grandson, Jimmy Cairns celebrate his sixth birthday. Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Russell and family, Mr. and Mrs. George Pulsipher, and Frank Fry were guests at a birthday partycele brating Leia Haggerty’s sixth birthday Monday evening at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Haggerty, Gyllenskog Accepts Douglas Gyllenskog left Nyssa last week for Kwajalein, Mar shall Islands, where he is em ployed by Global Associates as a security guard at a missile site. Before leaving for the Mar shall Islands, Douglas, and his parents Mr. and Mrs. Reed Gyllenskog visited in Alta, Wyoming with Mrs. Gyllen- skog's sister, Mrs. Bryce So rensen and family. While there, they also visited Targhee Ski Resort, Jackson Hole and other places of interest. 52 Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Capper celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary Saturday, September 5, at their home at 614 Reece, Nyssa. They were married >" 1906, and their wedding picture can be seen in the photo. Relatives who dropped in and furnished the dinner for the honored couple are Mr. and Mrs. Roy Miller (daughter), Parma; Mrs. Dulce Osborn (daughter), Nyssa; Mr. and Mrs. Percy Capper (son), Nyssa; Mr. and Mrs. Bob Storm (grand son), Boise; and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Brile (granddaughter), Boise. CANDY STRIPERS TO HOLD FIRST MEETING II—1_! The first Candy Striper’s meeting will be held in the hospital dining room Monday, September 14 at 4 p.m. Any girls interested in working as Junior Volunteers for the hos pital are urged to attend this meeting. The girls must be at least 15 years old or a sopho more in high school. If there are any questions please contact Mrs. Dick Ten- sen 372-2994 or Mrs. Margaret Bennett at the hospital, 372- 2211. Sharon is a graduate of Ashland High School, attended Beauty School in Pendleton and is presently employed at J.C. Penny Co. at Karcher Mall. Her fiance is a graduate of Nyssa High School and Trea sure Valley College. He at tended the University of Idaho in Moscow for one year and is presently employed in Cald well. The couple is planning an October wedding.
