THURSDAY, OCTOBER 2, 1969 THE NYSSA GATE CITY JOURNAL, NYSSA, OREGON PAGE SIX CLEAVER-RAMBAUD UNITED SEPT. 27 BUENA VISTA — Miss Joyce Cleaver and Frank Rambaud were married Saturday, Sept. 27, 1969 at 5 p.m. in the pre sence of the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Cleaver, Lori and Darrell. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Cleaver and Mr. and Mrs. Lester Cleaver, Terryand Melissa also attended. The ceremony was performed in the Faith Lutheran church at Nys sa by the Rev. Orville Jacob sen. The bride was attired in a street-length dress of aqua double-knit fashioned by her aunt, Mrs. Alfred Adams. She wore an orchid coursage. The new Mrs. Rambaud grad uated from Nyssa high school with the class of 1969. The bridegroom also graduated from NHS in 1968. After a wedding trip to Mc Call the newlyweds will reside in Nyssa at the Lang apart ments. Franks will be em ployed at the sugar factory in Nyssa. Mother of the groom is Mrs. Clara Rambaud of Nyssa. On the evening of Sept. 25, Joyce was honored with a mis cellaneous shower at the Les ter Cleaver home. Mrs. John (Pam) Cleaverand Mrs. Taylor (Frances) Phillips served as hostesses. Mrs. Lester Cleaver, the guest of honor and Mrs. Al fred Adams won prizes for the games played. Decorating the table were flowers and an umbrella made by Mabie Fangen. Refreshments of cake, punch and coffee were served to 21 guests. Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Byers and children of Ontario and John Sommers of Notus visited the evening of Sept. 28 at the Byers home. The men were there to help put-up hay. LOONEY Miss Nina Ruth McCoy be come the bride of Lt/JG David Robert Looney in a double ring ceremony performed at 8 p.m. August 8, 1969 in the Wes ley United Methodist church in Honolulu, Hawaii. The cere mony was solemnized in the presence of 60 close friends by the Rev. Robert B. Mont gomery. The bride, given in marriage by Mr. Vaiao J. Alailima, high titled chief of Western Samoa, was attired in a white princess style floor-length gown, fa shioned with wide scalloped lace at high neck and cuffs on long sleeves. Her veil was shoulder length tulle netting. She carried a bouquet of three large white orchids surrounded by cas cading delphinium orchids. Miss Deanna Kastler, Hono lulu, was maid of honor. Her gown was princess style, salmon color with long belled sleeves, trimmed in salmon and gold braid. She carried a French style bouquet with white carnations and salmon roses. Serving as best man was Lt/ JG H. Winfield Padgett and us her was CWO2 Neilsen E. Eney. All men wore Navy white dress uniforms. Soloist was Mrs. Michael Mc- Alunan accompanied by Mrs. Noboru Fujil. the church was decorated with candlelight, white aisle cloth, pew streamers and bows. Altar flowers were white gladi oli, mums and salmon roses. A reception honoring I the couple was held in i the home of the Rev. and Mrs. Mont- gomery, given by members of Wesley United I Methodist church. A three-tiered white wedding cake, surrounded with four tall candles accented with plumeria blossoms was served by Miss Deanna Kastler. As sisting at the punch bowl were Miss Francis Taylor and Mrs. Frank Butterworth. The bride graduated from Cottage Grove high school and the University of Oregon. She also attended Oregon State uni versity of Hawaii. She is a member of Alpha Lambda Del ta Scholastic Honorary, Mortar Board and Senior Womens Hon orary. Until her marriage, the new Mrs. Looney was a teacher in Hawaii. The bride returned August 1 from Western Samoa where she had been part of an educational work team sponsored by the Methodist church. Jim is leaving October 6 for San Diego where he will serve with the Marine Corps. The ceremony was intimate, with the bride and groom read ing to each other from Song of Solomon and the congregation taking part in responsive read ing of I Corinthians 13. The Rev. Montgomery then used the Testament readings as a basis for a personalized sermonette before the actual wedding cere mony. A reception, honoring the newlyweds, was held Tuesday evening, Sept. 16, 1969 at the Presbyterian church in Adrian.
